Check Kelly Blue book, NADA, CycleTrader, Ebay, Craigslist (even though some people on Craigslist are asking non-realistically high prices and will never be able to sell the bike at their asking price), and know what the current market value of a similar bike is before considering a purchase. Consider the maintenance work or fixes that YOU need to do to the bike, and factor that into the price. It is ok to pay more for a bike that has had all of the maintenance work done to it recently, or pay less and get a bike that needs some work, but you must know this in advance and be ok with it.
    • Inspecting the bike: if you are not experienced yourself, have a mechanic or an experienced friend check the bike before making a purchase. Crashed bikes:This is even more important if you are buying a bike that is being sold at a cheaper price with damages that the buyer is required to fix. In these cases, doing a frame check that will show any frame/fork/geometry damages is HIGHLY recommended. Do NOT simply rely on the information that the seller is providing, even he/she may not be aware of all the problems. Have the crashed bike checked and know what you are getting into.
    • Clean title, Salvage title A clean title doesn't mean the bike is free of serious issues. A Salvaged title doesn't mean the bike may have any problems. Every case is different. Some bikes are seriously damaged in a crash, but an insurance claim is never made on them, so they still have a clean title. Some bikes have had mostly cosmetic damages in a crash, but the insurance company decided to pay off the bike and salvage the title rather than spending the money to fix it. Know what you are getting into and don't make any assumptions based on what the seller is telling you.
    • Registration: Know about the current registration status of the bike. Check with DMV if you have any questions about any possible back fees and other title/registration questions (out of state title, no title with bill of sales only, etc.) before purchasing the bike.

    • Comments within a sale thread should be on topic and educational. Aggressive critiques and inside jokes will not be tolerated. Don't fuck it up, because the next step is disabling the "reply" feature entirely.
    • If you disagree with a price, keep it to yourself. The seller has set the price. If you don't like it, don't buy it and move on. If you really feel strongly about it, then PM the seller.
    • If you are interested in an item, feel free to PM, email or contact the seller privately. Feel free to post if you need clarification... however, your post should be in line with above mentioned rules.

I am trying to sell my go kart, figured this was the best place to try and move it. Since I am assuming some people here have a thing for speed. Here is the link to craigslist, mainly for pics and what not but to give a few details.

Mid 90's shifter Kart
125cc Rotax motor, LHD (the motor is on the left side of the kart)
5 speed gearbox
dual disc brakes up front
single disc in rear

Fast, with proper tuning and lots of room, this kart will do 100 easy. Fun kart but my dad has run out of garage space to store it, (7 dirt bikes, 1 chopper, two mini bikes, 1 other go kart) so room is tight.

pictures attached for the lazy people. i am willing to go much lower than $1750 if that is scaring people away. i have been hearing that it is sometimes hard to get your hands on a decent shifter kart for under 2k.

the silver frame in 05 is how i received the kart, it has been fixed since then and has had no issues what so ever.

did i mention it is stupid fast?

im thinking that you probably shouldnt have posted the pic of the shifter cart in the sand, as most people know what sand does to engines and that shifter's arent made to go in the sand:rolleyes

no doubt sand can screw up a motor but hey they came out with an invention recently, yeah i was really excited too. they call it an AIR CLEANER! good luck with the sale...nice ride.

And most of the shifter karts I've seen don't run an air filter, anyway. Just an airbox.

air cleaner air filter we all know what i'm talking about here. sand never makes its way through my air filter so yes it will filter the air that contains sand leaving the sand on the filter. and if you want to get into a pissing mach you should read the terms of service or rules on posting to the classifieds. if you have a problem with the posters asking price, keep it to yourself please. no room for haters when your trying to sell your shit. not judging just saying man.

didn't know shifter carts didn't run air filters.i was under the impression that some of the carts ran dirtbike motors. i'm sure if you were in dirty or dusty conditions you would be running a filter set up though.
 
Uhh, that is not the sand. That would be down at El Mirage, which is just dusty. Sorry I haven't checked on this thread, I thought after a day or two with no responses that it would just sit in the garage. I just posted in back on CL for 1250.

Here are some answers to questions:

Hitmann552: It is a Zip chassis, which from my knowledge and research was a Euro kart company.

It has an air filter, no air box.
 
bumping for another price drop. asking $1000 for barfers, the kart is worth at least that much.

It's actually a pretty decent looking cart and a steal at 750...I had a 125 shifter for a few years with a birrel chassis and a TM 125 motor....125 shifters are stupid fast (same power to weight ratio as a formula race car) and a rotax motor from what i've heard are good. and yes my air box had a filter in it.

Yeah, I used to have an MBA chassis with a CR125 motor. Even with a stock motor, that thing was insanely fast. It was a huge kick in the ass, but I never seemed to have any time to play with it, so I sold it. And I got almost $2000 more than God is asking, so that's a hell of a deal. :thumbup
 
I know I could get more for it, but it doesn't have the fancy side pods that make it look cool. But is Hauls BALLS!
