Shoes

Altra & Topo both make foot-shaped shoes. My low-drop Altra running shoes are the best shoe for both running and walking that I've had. My daughter has sworn by Topo for years for similar reasons.

Hokas and some of the big cushy sneakers look like they would be cozy to walk and stand in for extended periods,

but I could never look at my feet.

If I ever have even a non black or dark brown shoe or boot on, every time I catch it in my glance it feels unnatural.
I couldn't hang with the modern clown shoe look at all.

There are shoes that are just plain narrow even though they are spec'd as D. Sometimes I can fit into a D, sometimes an E, sometimes an EE and sometimes only an EEE. will fit.
A Hoka D is too narrow on my foot unless I step up 1 1/2 sizes and that won't work.

Find out what sort of insoles you should be using and put them in any shoe that fits.

I recently got a pair of Tread Labs carbon insoles. They’ve turned a pair of Nike Dunks into good walking shoes. Sure I can be more comfy for longer in my Saucony Endorphins. But it’s crazy how much the gap was closed by good supportive insoles.
+1, insoles are the real game-changer. Good arch support > padding

Superfeet come in like eleventy billion colors depending on whether you want support for a high/low arch, thick for running shoes or thin for dress shoes but green is the default.

I also like SOLE insoles, arch support like whoa and very good shock absorption but they're very very thick and not as bendy as Superfeet

Brooks. I really liked their Ghost shoes and am using a pair of Adrenalines now. I have tried On my first pair were super comfy but they tore at the lace spots really quick. Tried them again and they wore out fast. I am a big guy and mostly use them for gym/treadmill and have to replace at least once a year. Hokas were too plush for me and my heavy ass running style.

Hokas tend to be on the narrow side. I couldn't find a pair that would fit my EEE feet.
Coincidentally my toes are screaming from new narrow boots, they cut this one wrong, same pair I always wear. Faux leather hiking boots for the moto.

SOLE have different thickness and are heat moldable (spelling sorry). They also make some with a cork bed which I use in my hiking boots.
