Should you let your bosses win?

The Mistress
My company had an event this week where we had meetings with the CEO and senior partners all day Thursday and then on Friday we went cart racing.
One of the senior partners was racing very dirty, he got black flagged a few times. It did feel good to pass him and race him and beat him at the end.
Is it bad to beat the senior execs? Some people kept saying that it is politically wrong not to let them win... FFS, it is called cart racing, if we were there to see them go around the track they should have said so. /Rant.

What would you have done on the same situation?
The guy did seem very upset because he didn't win, he even brought a pair of racing shoes.

I see no need or logical reason to let your boss/bosses win just because they out-rank you at work.

I showed no mercy to my boss on the kart racing track. But he is a nice guy so I didn't trade paint with him. Others were under the impression that just because they were close by I should be letting them go by. Which is BS!

This is part of the reason I started working for myself. Office politics = bleh.

That said, if I had been out there and had the skill to do so I would have blown his doors off repeatedly and with great joy.

Stuff him till he's sideways then biff him in the side into the tires. He'll flip and gas will start leaking. Toss a match FTW. Go around another lap and flip him off as the flames consume him.

Show him the wheel, and then punt his ass off the track.

Destroy them and show no mercy. Both of my bosses are extremely competitive guys. When we play table tennis at work if you were to let one of them win they would consider it a weakness.

Nerf his ass into a barrier and talk shit afterward.

career wise probably wasn't the best move. if he was racing dirty that means winning was super duper important to him, also probably the type to hold a grudge or minor resentment, most likely he is really a little kid trapped in a man body and now secretly holds a grudge against you, in his mind you made him look bad, and inferior. you will probably pay dearly.

He was racing like an ass, pushing everyone to the wall and cutting everyone off. He crashed me so hard that he came out with pain on his ribs. He got black flagged for that.
He is very cocky even at the office and everyone bows at him for everything.
He also said with anger that I hit him (even though he was the one that crashed me). He got even worst after that, but to my advantage he couldn't keep up.
At the end he said may team won because we cheated. What a loser!!

That's my fear :(

^^^I agree with critter :teeth

Unless you have figured out that any of your senior execs is insecure, hyper-competitive, and/or petty. Beating their asses could come back to haunt you. Sounds like your boss is a first class ass.

Seeing how layoffs are commonly structured on who pissed-off the boss, I'd let the wookie win.

Yes, I have no self-respect.

No.

It is a sign of weakness easily detected.

Do you want an employee who would intentionally diminish their skills in the face of competition.

Who is this guy going to want to have at the next kart outing. An employee that he can beat or an employee that will make him look bad?

Let the baby have his trophy.

Some guys rise to the challenge, characteristics that get them to the top. I'm guessing your boss doesn't work for a fortune 500 company.

Maybe you do. I don't know.

smart or not, I could only recommend to do your best and race like it's anyone else. don't hold back because he's in a superior position.
