So my wife and I rode to the cape of good hope

What makes you uncomfortable about a picture of your face on the internet? What do you think might happen?

I'm not trying to berate or antagonize you or OP, just honestly curious.

I’m a low key guy, I like it that way. Don’t need any unnecessary attention, don’t do FB or any other social media other than the Barf.

Glad you had a good ride!!! :thumbup

The helmets down there are :loco :p

That rocks.

I spent 6 wkkes ther back in '81. It was spectacular.
Kinda like california without as much civilazation and more wild aminals.
I saw 25 lions. I was counting. Three Rhino. Infinate wildebeast. Fantastic.

Do it if you can. Or go ride with Moin. Just get out!

Safety concerns? I am getting ,mixed reviews. If you're a liveleak fan like me , it rates up there to Brazil with most likely to be carjacked or assaulted.

Did you tour the major roads or did you go off the beaten path and explore?
Why did you choose S Africa over N Africa?

Africa on my bucket list.

Why are you leathered up and your significant other in a sweater?

I've spent time in Brazil, South Africa and other "dangerous" places, and like any place, if you act like you belong there, people leave you be.

As far as I am concerned, Emeryville is the most dangerous place on Earth. One Halloween night I pulled in to use a public phone and some weirdos boxed me in, so I stuck it in reverse and floored it.
I was able to zoom away (280Z) and avoid further trouble, but Emeryville is no place to be.
Rio, Capetown, Tehran, Islamabad, Calcutta, Delhi, Saigon, Moscow all are safe, if you choose wisely.

Where did you rent from? I caged Port Elizabeth to Cape Town via the Golden Route, it was really great scenery - almost too similar to Hwy 1. I ran into some offroad bikers and they said if you ever get the chance to ride offroad you have to hit the "Road to Hell".

Nothing. Not today at least.

The unlikely but noteworthy situation is in the realm of 'doxxing.'

Tying a public online account to a picture of your face allows someone with moderate to advanced knowledge and IT literacy to find pretty much all of your other online accounts, social security number, address, family info, etc. in 2018.

Someone with enough motivation, aptitude and a photo of your face at lunch time could be knocking on your door later that evening. Not a problem if you don't have any enemies/crazies in your life right now, but that could ostensibly change the next time you piss off a crazy cager with a dash cam and a decent level of IT literacy.

With enough motivation it actually doesn't matter if you posted a photo or not. Someone could probably find you if you have any digital footprint at all.

Or so say my buddies who work in infosec at any rate...

That's very hard too do. Very very very hard unless you're a public figure. As for the personal information like SSN, they're more likely to get that at a company you've provided that info too or going through your garbage.

OP how did you like the RnineT? Its on my radar. Riding impressions?

I liked it a lot actually. A bit cramped for a 6 footer, but not insanely so. Engine had character, shakes it's head when you fire it up, grabby clutch leads to a lot of mini wheelies when aggressively accelerating.

Maybe the high seat option or the scrambler edition would solve the cramped leg issue.

Personally, I would never ever buy one, only because for the same money I could have a Tuono Factory or a SuperDuke 1290 which I find to be eons better in the naked street bike class. but that's just like, my opinion, ya know.
