Thanks Siggy. And also thanks for helping Derek dial in the fuel injection on Friday night.
I've never been part of the process of developing a bike. When I ran inlines I only knew how to make bikes handle worse, so instead I'd just hold on for dear life. Then on the Ducatis it became common practice to call someone overseas. Always there was a special magnesium part made specifically for this, or a titanium doo-hickey you bolted on top of that.
But now there's no one to call... And believe me, we are only a few short answers shy of making this Superduke work like a champion. So I took the bike to Jerry Piazzas on Friday to get some hard data on where we are. It was a very telling experience. Turns out we are all on the same page even though "we" got there the old fashioned way. Seat of the pants feel, Phil responding to good feedback, and everyone trying to fit the Superduke R into those parameters. Jerry's numbers confirm our feelings - we need more trail, we need to cut back on the steep rake, and we need more swingarm angle. I filmed the whole thing. It's boring as hell but pretty educational. If anyone's curious I'll put it up.
