The pic. doesn't capture the right fork tube to clearly therefore I just let it running through between the two fork tubes. I guess I will have to re-route the cable to the outside of the right tube then.

from my experience with mountain biking however, i was taught that right before the cable and and housing meets the lever, or whatever other part, that there should be at least a few inches of cable that's straight...in those pics, i noticed that the cable is curved right out of the lever...this can't be good.

You're right. I thought you were referring to the left fork. Indeed the cable runs between the two.

You were taught that, but do you understand the reasoning behind it? If you did, you would realize that the cable is fine (see attached pic below from a better angle). What you don't want are crimps in the cable or excessive bends that will limit cable travel when the lever is being pulled. For the most part, the housings of motorcycle clutch and brake cables are thick enough to prevent crimping anyway. I've run this setup for 3 years without incident and for those wondering clutch pull effort is the same.
