In the 70's it was custom vans with the rug interior..

The 80's brought us mini trucks with the tilting beds..

The 90's everyone got an Honda and became fast and furious..

So in the 2000's the sportbike scene is exploding..
Is it just another trend? Were you riding a bike long before some newb uttered "R1"? Will you stop riding once everyone else does? Maybe Fast and the Furious 4 with 'Busas?

Opinions please..

I originally bought a motorcycle because it's more convenient to travel around the city, but now I can't see giving up my bike.

I got into motorcycles on a whim, and bought the bike cuz I thought it looked cool:dunno:ride

I bought a '84 Honda Nighthawk 700S just so people would think I'd been riding a long time. It didn't work, they think it's a scooter. :ride

I love that bike!! Should've never sold mine, back in the day. Do you have the black/red, black/blue or white/blue?

I don't know...I guess time will tell. I bought mine because I wanted to get into it for the ease of commuting and the fun on the twisties on the weekends. All my friends said it was a ton of fun and if you're not hauling a ton of crap around, it's the best way to go. Now, I have only taken my car out twice since I bought my bike a month and a half ago and put 1.3k miles on it. I can't see ever giving up riding.

no i dont follow trends. Ive been riding sporty type motorcycles for many years and when i get older maybe a cruiser will work for me but for the last 45 years its been sporting standards dual sports and sport bikes. i'll stop riding when i can no longer push the start button myself.

Blacknblue is my online name because my Nighthawk is. I also have a sissy bar & rack combo and the bike was mostly garaged. It has 18,881 miles and is in excellent shape, looks 3 years old. Bought it in Auburn for $1400.00 . So, yeah, I love this bike. No complaints. It's ready for touring.

Yeah, I got into it because everyone else was doing it...in 1974. Any day now I'm gonna get sick of it and move on to the next big thing.

I got into riding because a friend of mine was going to take the MSF course. So I decided why not and took the course as well. I never looked back and never will :)

This is what old time riders are worried about, well, riders that ride with respect toward others.

It's a seasonal trend.

I don't think vans with rug interior and trucks with tilting beds only exploded during the sunny season.

I've loved motorcycle since '86

I've been riding sportbikes since the 80's and dirtbikes before that. BTW, sportbikes have been around a long long time. I would hardly call it a newer trend. My first sportbike was an 83 VF750 intercepter. But I can remember my father and other adults riding CBs, triumphs, and many other "sportbike" and standard variations years before that.

Heck, I can even remember when HD's werent so popular (late 70s and early 80s) :laughing

Ive been riding for 12 years now, it has nothing to do with popularity or trends, the moment I first rode I knew I was in love.

wot e saed, cept onlee 4 yeares

You're right, but gas prices is making chicken shits think about motos more so compared with history, including both the 'gas shortages' during the '70's.

Maybe, but we'll see how many stick around once the temps drop along with the rain.
