I'm getting a new rear shock. Shock manufacturer offers 80-95 kg and 95-110 kg. With gear I'm right at 95 kg. Rarely if ever have a passenger. Saddlebags at 40-50 lbs some of the time. Distributor and manufacturer had different recommendations. Which way should I go, and why?

I’d go with the heavier duty spring.

Just cause.

Info on the bike and the actual springrates may be helpful.

What spring do you have now? Do you have any issues with it that would suggest going lighter or stiffer?

The manufacturer ranges are odd - they should overlap a lot.

you can try RaceTech.com for some calculations sometimes.
spring rate can come down to personal preferences sometimes as well.

For comfort I would probably try the softer spring, then bump up the preload when riding with heavy saddlebags. For performance just go heavier spring 😅
