I got to play with a little Pyle 15W mini amp and thought it would be good to get something to pair with my eDrums, in case I ever want to make noise with others around to suffer.

Any thoughts on these things? This one is a little better. I was considering mounting it and a couple of bookshelf speakers to the drum rack.

Looks pretty nice, though I know not about the brand. Couldn't tell from the ad what class amp it is, but to just make some noise probably doesn't matter. Quite a few features packed in there for the price. Worst case it becomes a nice simple sound system for the garage.

Well, I'd still want to listen to music, but I can't tell if it's class AB or D. From what I've gathered, Pyle tends to underspec their components on some kits.

Here is a similar model repair. Build actually not as cheap as it could be, and maybe not bad if designed correctly.

BTW, I do still have my old STA-2700 I could use. I also had the orange highlighted speakers shown in this short clip

Pyle claims 300w per channel into 8 ohms. At that size, it has to be class D.

I actually bought a newer version of the one in the video up there. I was thinking of running some IO scope tests. Here's a frequency response plot of my Galaxy microphone using said amp and a pair of ADS 710s.

Seems a little bass heavy. Well, that's because I cranked up the bass knob and forgot about it.

This POS!

The left channel started fading 3/4 of its volume. Like I'd be listening to a YouTube channel at relatively low volume and suddenly it sounds like only the right speaker. I tried the FM tuner, BT, and different line inputs and same - and balance knob verified left channel is almost null. Then after having it off for a while it would be normal for a bit.

Now I gotta send this Pyle of Shit back.

I remember making fun of the other high school kids with the Pyle pounder subwoofers. They would work ok at best. They had Sub boxes with dual 12” or 15” Pyle subs and sounded like garbage. I had my lonely 10” Fosgate sub which never let me down. sad Pyle didn’t improve over the years.

In high school the whole point of the exercise was making loud noise. Well, that and impressing girls.

Sound Around Inc owns Pyle, Pyramid, Lanzar, Legacy, Blitz and a couple of others. All bottom tiers, all mass market and all sound terrible next to even mediocre brands like KEF, Wharfedale and Polk Audio. Sound Around Inc knows their market.

Pyle didn't improve over the years by intention.

I didn't think it sounded terrible, but It was connected to some good speakers. The components for this kind of stuff nowadays is cookie cutter and cheap. I figured it was a push-pull amplifier configuration. It might have been a cold solder joint but might as well look for something better.

I have my old automotive audio gear. Some component Blaupunkt speaker systems, Evergreen and Force amps, LoL Pyramid 10-band audio eq, and Kenwood stereo. I was thinking of stuffing that into a box and building some speaker cabinets.

I'm digging out my old stuff. I knew a manager guy at Radio Shack that could get the best deals...

And because, why not?

I needed a new amp for my garage stereo because my old Pioneer SX990 finally died. I went to Fry’s and bought a new, inexpensive Sony receiver and it’s still working well to this day. It drives my old JBL L100 Century speakers which are in excellent condition except for the grills.

Realistic products never seem to die.

Long after they pass from original purchaser to college dorm resident, to garage shelf lodgment they seem to settle into a life in the nether world of job space ambience.

Visit the vendors for our shop to look in their dusty warehouses, and you'll be sure to find a relic of the era continuing to produce noise. Sure, the inputs are being fed by a bluetooth generator but the sound is solid out of those amps.

Often, walking into a warehouse it's 1977 all over again and Dire Straits 'Brothers in Arms' will be playing.

I have a P.A. Amp you can have. Pick up in Fairfield 😁

15 watts seems awful light for edrums to me. In my experience you need a big driver and lotsa watts to get a decent kick drum thump. I went down a similar path trying things out. A Buddy gave me a P.A. Amp he didn’t need, I bought a used Kustom 10” monitor. It sounded “thin” to me, no bottom end. I only use a speaker/amp when my grandkids come over. I play into headphones when practicing. If I’m really playing I go to my acoustic kit. I love acoustic drums, I tolerate edrums as a practice tool.

Same buddy recently gave me 2 Berlinger powered monitors. 400 watts each. Still not the chest pounding thump of a concert system but I have used one at a live rehearsal and it held up well.

What edrums do you have? I have a Roland TD-27. I had an Alesis Cromson II for a while but upgraded to the Roland a few years ago.

You have to understand where it started...

So with all the incentives, I got a new SD1250 for about half list.

I sold my acoustic set to help pay for college and won't likely get another.
