Starlink Sighting tonight and tomorrow

ISS over Ukiah this evening: Thu Jun 04 9:12 PM, Visible: 4 min, Max Height: 49°, Appears: 31° above W, Disappears: 10° above SSE

One trip launches 60 satellites?? Guess that clues us in to how much shit is up there.

Yeah, but they don't call it space for nothing.

The orbit of the low stuff just decays and burns up in the atmosphere. The high stuff goes to the Graveyard orbit.

Just saw it :thumbup The moon is very bright, would be better if darker. Looked like a thin silver/gray line, moving fast.

+1! soooo coooool ... thanks for the heads up, guys! :ride

my wife and I got a good look at them, directly overhead in the city, surrounded by streetlights ... I’d have missed them if she hadn’t been there to see them first ... :laughing

super fun krypton ion drive, ftw ... :party

Two fer: ISS flew over at 9:10pm and then saw Starlink at 9:37. The ISS moves fast but Starlink really moves across the sky quickly. Very cool. Full Moon, streetlights and my old eyes made Starlink a bit hard to see. Really want to drive a few miles south sometime and see Starlink on a moonless night from the farm roads.

Starlink visible from Sacramento again on June 7th at 9:49pm

9:49 pm, 7 Jun 2020
Starlink-6, BRIGHT (2.8) for 6 mins
Look from SOUTHWEST to NORTHEAST (details)
Elevation (from horizon): start: 11°, max: 81°, end: 10°

edit: Using the Find Starlink website as my source.

That was cool! My wife and I wandered over to the park by our home. I saw briefly a very bright small group to the west that disappeared from the naked eye. Then the whole train came into view, very dimly lit. Magnificent! We then followed the train until out of sight with binoculars. Very cool indeed.

Yup

Stage 2 to "2.5"... went to a pub and had a pint on the patio last Saturday. Almost kinda normal.

Very cool. Are facemasks required while out in public? I'm concerned about others not wearing them, as I would be wearing one.

Required indoors, not so much outdoors... I wear mine if I can't distance, as do most others.

Restaurants are setting up outdoor areas, I was just in Carmel to do some banking and a lot of parking spaces have been turned into tables.

Bumping this for the Starlink flyover tonight.

Stupid question, but aren't those things in Geo orbit, or at least one visible at all times since they supposed to provide constant up and down links?

Satellite finder site is cool! Gives me view of my house and which way to look. Went out at predicted time and didn't see a thing! Even held up my phone to line up with side of neighbor's house like it showed on site. Nope, too many street-lights in the way. Why couldn't PG&E have done of their malicious blackouts tonight?

I didn't see anything at our place last night either. I watched for 15-20 minutes past the designated time and the only things I saw were two unrelated satellites orbiting in other directions. No street lights out here and it was severe clear.

Too cloudy at my house last night.

I picked them up, but, not nearly as bright as the stars. I live out in the sticks with very little light pollution.

Not super easy to see.
