Stop making cars to hit deadly speeds

No, of course I didn't read the thread, but I have to say, that after shelling out $436, that is good new tires for both of my bikes,
for online traffic school, that I have noticed how close and frequently I come to collision events 'cause I'm distracted looking at girls walking down the sidewalk, or wondering what someone is eating in the car next to me. so that the margin for error is greatly reduced, so now I'm recognizing that, and the cost of rear ending someone with my minimum insurance coverage actually is a real issue I should consider, cause rearending someones shiny Escalade in my 175k miles GMC, no matter how slight, is going to make one really bad hair day for me, and that is whats called a good quality threadjack. :teeth

This logic is why I just went ahead and bought a 450HP gas guzzling V8 powered sporty car now, rather than wait until I retire and there's nothing by hybrids and turbo charged 4s around. I tried to get vanity plates that said FUCKYOU as well but they got denied.

It got denied because I already have it. I so fucking wish.

I bought a ridiculous V8 monster car for the same reason. I actually drive it fairly slowly. I just didn't want the nanny state dictating to me what kind of car I car can't buy.

Or skiing accident. On the catwalk.

My buddy's dad is a long time firefighter and a long time rider.

He was telling us about call he went on where guy's foot slipped at a stop light with his moto. Dude fell, and since he was wearing just a brain bucket helmet, he died from head trauma due to his head hitting the pavement. All at zero MPH.

Damn Fred...

A few years back at a well known Trackday provider's event in Socal, at Buttonwillow, a guy crashed on the way back from tech inspection. 5mph. Foot peg into the side of his head. Gross.

Where are NASCAR racers getting "training"? Racing…and that's not training, it's Racing.

Love the whole idea of his car being 40 MPH slower than a Nascar racer. In Sonoma T11, that would mean he's doing 10 MPH…in reverse.

Exactly. Look at this guy....

Been racing since he was 9. Pretty sure the insurance rules wouldn't let him take a class at Skip Barber until he was 18. And by then he already was a NASCAR driver.

In all seriousness, I tried to get all sorts of fuckyou type plates such as:

NOTESLA
NOTSLA
NOTNEV
etc.

They're either all taken or prohibited.

Years ago, I saw a plate (maybe CA...I forgot) that for sure should have been blocked by DMV. But the owner got that one past the goalie.

This is a repeat from 1965.

Opinionated editorialist is jealous of repeat Presidential candidate Ralph Nader and his book 'Unsafe at Any Speed: The Designed-In Dangers of the American Automobile'.

Didnt read the entire thread, so my apologies if the topic/conversation has shifted to a different topic....

Years ago my cousin and i built an old school american runner. 383 stroker, cams, pistons, intake, 3:73's, etc, etc.... the thing would/coukd lay down rubber at 70-80mph, a very fast n piwerful car that was still street legal. We knew first hand the power n speed this car was capable of n anytime driving on the street, i can count on one hand the amount of times we had it over 75-80mph. We understood the danger of this car, and acted responsibly.

Some people, no matter what will always disregard the obvious risks right in front of their face, snd jeapordise their lives and the lives around them. Mandating car companies to cater the the irresponsibility of few, is not fuckin cool n shouldnt happen.

Even these new cars comin out that sense a collision is about to occur, and sorta "auto pilot" themselves to stop/avoid it, i dont fully support them.

Of course the technology can and will save lives, in numerous scenarios, however, theyre designing cars to make shitty drivers even shittier. So i guesd im kinda torn on this technology. But, at then end of the day saving lives is probaly more important. I dunno....

There is something that seriously pisses me off about this sort of thinking. This writer is begging for MORE nannyism. It is both arrogant (in that he believes we ALL need this sort of regulation, because we are all too irresponsible and stupid to be safe without regulations) and "pussy" to me (take some fucking responsibility, like an adult should, and stop whining).
.

There is some commercial that gets me on a rant every time. I don't remember which car it is (they all look like stupid bubbles these days), but there's some distracted idiot behind the steering wheel, and the car keeps beeping to let him know he's about to hit stuff. Kornholio tells me to embrace technology, but to me, this is enabling shitty driving and distraction. If you need this much nannyism to operate a vehicle, you should not be behind the wheel. :x

When he comes down from the shock of the news maybe he'll realize how asinine his viewpoint is.

i like fast cars.

:thumbup Me too, My whole live has been the developing of the science and skills of working in metal, to make cars faster. And motorcycles as well.

And learning how to drive, or ride, in a way to avoid those chowder heads that can't even drive slow cars. :rofl

Reading about the AMA legislative rep who is retiring he said they are preparing to fight such nannies on Motorcycles..:wtf

ABS.. TC ... OK.. collision avoidance or other such ideas.?????. :wtf

You folks do realize that if we follow this path, it would also make sense to ban two-wheeled vehicles entirely, right?
