Cutting the cable and I have a subscription to Disney/Hulu thru Xfinity.
I understand I need a streaming device. I will connect the streaming device to one of my AV receiver's HDMI ports.
Is there a preferred streaming device?
The other option is to run an HDMI cable from my laptop to the AV receiver. That is kinda clunky and inconvenient.
Any other options besides buying a new TV?

We use Roku (and like it) but Xfinity also offers a box of their own that is include free with your Xfinity subscription. I would start there and if it doesn't meet your needs consider one of the other options.

I love my Chromecast! I've tried them all and Chromecast is the most seamless.

I've always been a fan of Roku's. I just upgraded mine to a 4k with HDR and it was on sale for $30.00. It took two days to get here with free shipping.

Got the Xfinity stuff and it comes with a streaming box. I'll see how it works.

This is what I've been doing for years. I don't find it to be anymore clunky and inconvenient than the cable box you're ditching.

I have a laptop that sits where a cable box would sit and I have a wireless keyboard with mouse pad. It's not anymore complicated than what you already have. I also find most streaming services run cleaner off their website over any app, firestick, roku, etc.

Other suggestions in this thread are all good. Just saying, this particular one is not as bad as you might think. It's a little 'old school' but it's a viable option.

Same here my started with a HD and a 2xs then added the streaming stick+, then an ultra, then picked up one of the 2 packs at Costco for a 2nd ultra...gave the 2nd stick+ to family, and the older one went in the travel bag.

Also consider the option of a modern game console, if you have one.

I use my PS4 to watch shows and movies more than I use it to play video games. :laughing

More recent versions of firesticks and Rokus might be better but the ones I have experience with years ago were a little slow, again just relative to streaming direct from the website. My PS4 is 2nd to that. Everything else is tolerable but noticeably slower with browsing, searching, and just needing to reboot sometimes.

YMMV

"Cutting the cable" means getting rid of Xfinity TV, no? Youtube TV works well for us as a replacement and Hulu has a similar offering.

We use Roku but have no special attachment to it... other suggestions here should work as well.

To be fair, I think the only thing keeping me "cabled" is baseball. I get to see, and record/timeshift, the local Angels games. I don't know of any other way to do that.
