SUPERMOTARD - Seel Wins, Chandler 18th
By Mario Marini
Seel Dominates 7/27/2003
Husqvarna's Eddie Seel collected another win of the FIM World Supermoto series today at the Czech Round in Sosnova.
He was coming from the pole position he gained on Saturday, but suffered with a strong Ivan Lazzarini in both moto one and moto two. Seel finished second behind the Husaberg in the preliminary heats and had a fantastic start in the Superfinal.
Then he went all the way to his second win this season despite some rain started falling when half of the race was completed.
Lazzarini had his best race ever by winning the two heats before the final and got a second in the main event behind the strong Belgian.
Third was standings' leader Boris Chambon.
Seel, along with Lazzarini, Chambon and the other factory Husqvarna of Italian Massimo Beltrami (who got fifth today) will likely participate in the second round of the AMA Red Bull Supermoto series in South Boston, Virginia at end of August.
It was a precious learning weekend for Doug Chandler (pictured), who spent a lot of time in getting adjusted with a completely new bike for him (he first tried the 660cc KTM, then opted for the 610cc) and this type of racing. He got 18th in the main event and in the preliminary motos he finished 22nd and 18th.
