Suspension Upgrades for the XR50?

:confused no bigger than a 1/4" but not too small/thin neither cuz then it would just get stuck in the hollow pin you're trying to drive out. using a nail and hammer was a bitch I tell you and I had to massage the fork so it would slide good again. still kinda' notchy at times.

I bought a set, so based on how dirty they are, it is either 5/32 or 1/8. I broke one and lost one from the set already, but it was deinfately one of those two that got the pin out.

doh! i had a flashback of something I thought about too late (for me). When you get the springs, they give you new pins to put in the forks. If you take those to the hardware store you can easily size up the size of drift punch you need.

fark. yeah that damn nut was hard to reach with the spring in the way. if it got chewed I don't know how to get it off now since getting channel locks in there would be impossible. maybe somehow compress the springs? dangerous w/o right tools.

wait for a bit, you have all weekend and someone might come up with a solution.

What was stripped, the nut or the threads? If its the nut, some small vise grips might get it off. If it's the threads, you might be able to get a cheap rear shock from ebay then you could upgrade that one.

man i went to harbor frieght yesterday for some reason they dont have drift punch sets. there was this spring clip pliers. im not sure if they look the same as the circlip ones. the spring clip one looks like theres 2 small holes at the end of it.
i dunno its only 2.99 so i bought it. anyways i'll probably get the springs soon.

The nut is rounded, I could hammer a wrench onto it but it ended up turning instead of the eye. So the threads on the nut are prolly messed up. I don't know how to hold the middle pole of the shock so I can twist off the eye. I tried with some pliers but it just started chewing up the middle pole. I ordered an ishock this morning for $200.

yah, we all want one of those anyways! :thumbup

I was thinking (dangerous I know) maybe remount the shock to the frame for leverage but now you can just throw it in THE GARBAGE! :teeth
