Suzuki's future in doubt?

I don't think US Sales of any brand are increasing, and as for Suzuki, they pulled their entire car line out of the US Market a few years ago. So now, as far as the USA is concerned, they are only selling the US Motorcycle line, and ATV, Watercraft, Outboard motors.
Like most multinational corporations, they have more than one product line or service.

If you like to crunch data, then I recommend this place

or even Automotive News (requires subscription)

Suzuki of America publishes an annual P&L statement online here at https://www.globalsuzuki.com/ir/library/annualreport/
But it could be somewhat "optimistic".

I am not worried. Solid products and a passion will carry them forward. MotoGP champs after all.

Daduki remains close to my heart. I have owned many and have faith.

I wonder if anyone else got the reference to Robbie Goldfarb.

I’ve owned and ridden many Suzuki’s and it’s too bad they are facing hard times. Just a thought, but the one motorcycle that I could just not understand how and why was the Boulevard/Savage. My wife and I did the Road to Hana in Maui on that bike and man, it was excruciating. The motor, ergos... everything about that bike made me like WTF is this thing.

For a cruiser the S40/Savage sort of appeals to me. But there's no case I can think of where I'd choose one of those over a DR650.

Older S40/Savage + Ryca kit = rebirth

I've been investing a little time on this subject.

It looks like Suzuki's exit from the USA Automotive market in 2012 was a necessary tactic. They may never really grow beyond what they are now, but their stock values are holding their own.

I'd like to see them pursue building compact Jeep type 4x4s, hybrid/electric. Id be a player for one!

Dude! A modern Suzuki Samurai???!!!! So down.

I’ve been down the rabbit hole by googling “Suzuki Samurai rock crawlers”.

They already make it. Look up the Suzuki Jimny.

The Safety and Emissions standards shouldn't be a deal breaker, California is the biggest individual market on the planet.
If they can sell it here, they can sell it anywhere.
And, considering the number of Samurais we put on the road in the late 80s, there's almost always a buyer for a niche vehicle .

Yeah, not in the US :thumbdown hence the premise of this thread, I guess!

The premise of this thread is a bunch of speculation by a blogger with nothing to back it up. :laughing

"Premise". Can be a noun or a verb.

The point was that there has been some speculation on Suzuki's direction in the motorcycle business. I wouldn't expect to see anything from Suzuki, though, that addresses their immediate plans for the US market.

In the early 90s I was working at a Porsche dealership when Porsche announced that they were shrinking their US dealership network by 65%. They had given franchise owners no prior hints at their annual Sales Meeting the month before. It was pretty much a total surprise.
There had been unsubstantiated rumors, but nothing from Porsche AG. Not a peep.

This is happening, though. So it's encouraging that they are doing public information on it's reorganizing.

Can still make a small 4x4 and meet the modern safety ratings, that's the trick.

There are a bunch of mini-ute 4x4s, but nothing as spartan as the Samurai. I don't even know if a vehicle like the Samurai could be sold today just due to rollover restrictions, not to mention the rest of it. Just the size and scale of it.

Looks like Suzuki is updating the nekkid 1000... intro in a couple of weeks.

Seems like every year for the last 10+ years, there is always some sort of article or blog speculating about Suzuki's potential demise, yet here they are, year after year, selling the same ol' bikes. It keeps working, so no need for drastic changes and large gambles.

On that note, how well did that new Katana do? It looks like after it was released, a few dealers in the area each got one, and there they sit. I now see that they are on sale too, yet they are not moving. Was that model a flop, or is it just not selling in the Bay Area?

If we all had our sv650 like we're supposed to we wouldn't be having this conversation.:x
