As if the composite work doesn't keep me busy enough, I've started another project - stuffing an SV motor into an RVF 400 chassis. Having owned a number of RVF 400s and SVs, it struck me as the perfect combination - a tiny little chassis with a built (80+ hp) twin.
The proof of concept came when I jacked an SV motor into a VFR 400 chassis I had laying around. Pic attached.
This essentially proved the motor could fit. The chassis is all set to take a V-based motor and the shock is already offset to the left to provide the rear cylinder(s) exhaust pipe clearance.
Heck, it's almost like it wanted the SV motor in the first place!
I've always liked the RVF better than the VFR and I was finally able to find a clean RVF roller. I've sourced the SV motor and now it's, once again, just a 'simple' matter of cutting a bit here, welding a bit there and I expect to have what to me is the perfect bike. Full carbon one off body work is planned...
I hope to make it a competitive Formula IV bike and will be looking to sponsor someone who would be interested in racing it.
Your comments, suggestions and constructive critisisms are, as always, appreciated.
More pics as I make progress.
