I am planning on getting my track bike rear shock serviced this winter and I was wondering what are the recommend things to look out for and maintenance procedure for the swing arm bushings or bearings? Since I will be removing the rear shock it will be the perfect time to do this work.

PS The bike is an 03' SV650

Put the bike up on auto jacks under the footpegs and pull the swingarm Before you pull it, look at the swingarm rubber and see if it needs replacement. Cheap maintenance. You will need a castel nut tool to pull the swingarm. Check the bearings. Probably will be ok but need cleaning and greasing. It's unusual for a newer SV to have swingarm bearing wear. But check.

Back in my motocross days improved greasing the linkage and steering head improved performance more than adding any parts. It only helps.

He's talking about the bike not your "steering head" you think with.
