Hello,
I have a Trail Tech Voyager Pro on my KTM. I am planning on riding the Trans America Trail in September. Who or where can I buy the gps maps to upload on the my unit. GPSKevin only works on Garmin units, according to him.
Thanks for the help

not sure if you tried Sam Correo's site (https://www.transamtrail.com/). he is the original route mapper.
I have GPS Kevin, all GPX files.
If you are looking for someone for backroad fun or possibly some BDR's, i am interested! My riding buddies have moved away.

Also, i just looked at your GPS unit and the website says it takes GPX files.

Yep I purchased the tracks and maps from Sam's site I think in 2016. Those are the official TAT maps. I used the Garmin basecamp software to upload it onto my GPS. Not sure how the Trail Tech works.

Any decent GPS device should accept a GPX file. That's how I load routes for my ancient Garmin Zumo 550.

I would suggest loading some simple GPX files into it to see how they work before going on a long ride and counting on it. I can e-mail you a few for the Bay Area if you can't find another source. I used to create them using Google Maps, but mostly I record rides and save them for future reference now.

I found with my Garmin that it would occasionally get confused and I would have to reset the map. It's that sort of thing that you want to discover before it becomes really important.

====== Edit ======

I'm pretty sure that you can get the TAT tracks for free, since I have a copy of it and I never, ever pay for stuff like that. :laughing

TAT maps

Thanks for the info. I’ll try loading some gpx files and play with it. Ill also contact Sam about getting the maps. I used GPS Kevin before and liked it but they informed me that theirs SD card can only work with Garmin units.

I just connect a USB cable between my GPS and computer and copy GPX files onto it as a file transfer.

Yours ought to allow something similar.

If the files on the SD card are encrypted you may not be able to read them back. Haven't tried it myself though, never had any GPS Kevin files. Worth trying before buying.

You should pay for the tracks/maps Sam spent a long time setting up this route and it is world famous. Think of it as paying for a Dual Sport event just a lot of them at the same time. If I were you I would just get a garmin GPS if you are having that much trouble with the Trailtech Voyager. I used Garmin basecamp to upload the tracks onto my GPS.

You can also get the rollcharts also if you want to use a rollchart.

It's something that you can be proud you accomplished because not many have completed it. I completed 100% of it last year.

That’s awesome. What specific maps did I you get from Sam? He doesn’t have only one for the TAT. What bike did you take?
Thanks

I rode the CactusPuncherDR650, in my opinion the ideal budget bike for the TAT is the KLR650. There are not that many tough sections on the TAT that you would want something like a dirtbike for. The DR650 was great though it chomped up the TAT no problem, it was painful at times riding the interstates to the TAT though. But yeah the TAT is pretty ADV bike friendly.

I bought everything the maps, rollchart, and tracks + a T shirt and strickers. It comes out to like $300+ and I'll tell you that it is A LOT of stuff as I started finishing section of the TAT I would mail the maps and rollcharts home because it sucked carrying them. If I was to do it again i wouldn't get the rollcharts I hate em and I found the tracks easier to follow and less errors. But I did use the rollcharts for 80% of the ride.
