Tech-Bro douches kick kids off soccer field in the mission

Those general rules were set in place when parks did not have lights. Parks with lights most assuredly have adjusted their close times. Probably 10-11p.

But this is a stupid argument there was no discrepancy on the rules of that park. Those kids were well aware (unlike some the reading comprehensionally (yeah I made that up) challenged here) of park hours and the reservation program. lol

Why don't you try explaining the sign again in clear English, as I still don't think you understand it. I know what it is supposed to say, and what it actually says. I live a block away btw.

I know these problems very well. I am a 8 year resident AND work in tech. :wow

Dude I asked you three times now to tell where I interpreted the sign wrong. I've posted my interpretation twice in this thread. Both times you were unable to understand that. Methinks something is wrong with your level of reading comprehension.

Once again tell me where I was wrong.

The point is while on your high horse about simple it was you STILL got it wrong. So it isn't that simple after all is it?

I am a member of the very community we are talking about. Those kids would either be playing soccer there or in Dolores park which is currently torn up for construction. Regardless of it begin orchestrated or not the problem is real. The kids could have let the field go sure, but they were highlighting a problem...

Don't think the problem is real? Watch the video again and listen to the exchange.

"How long have you been a member of this community" - kids coach, kinda douchey, but eclipsed by:
"Who give a shit about the community" - ultra douchey tech bro

You still haven't given a clear interpretation of the sign. Your follow up post is just as vague as the sign itself. I really don't know if you know what it means or not. Sorry, but it is not clear from what is posted.

Also you only asked me once.

Once again.

WHAT SPECIFICALLY DID I GET WRONG?

Can you not articulate that? :wow

Georgio highlited it exactly what was wrong.

Excuse. me. All Age Play. :rolleyes

What's funny is you two clowns still haven't figured it out. lol

All I saw was this correction and didn't see you correction to the original post. The above is just as ambiguous as the sign.

Sigh, it's really very simple but poorly written. As a general rule all parks are open from sunrise to sunset. All ages can enjoy the park 99% of the time, first come first serve (unless you get a permit like the techdudes). On Sunday from 1-3p they have adult play and from 3-5p the youngsters get to have the field. On Mon, Wed and Friday the park closes to all age play at 6:30p.

edit: for the semantically disturbed. lol

So what you got wrong is the park is open for all age play from 6:30-sunset. It is written as 6:30-closed. It should be - All Age play: 6:30-closing time.

Semantically disturbed indeed. You read it exactly the opposite of what it is trying to say. Still think the sign is as clear as day? :rolleyes

Careful guys, this is what started the whole mess in the middle east. A few thousand years ago some jews were having fun kicking around a goats head and some muslims came along and said "hey, jews, we paid 2 chickens for this spot and it's our turn now.

Sure, but the whole techbro vs. community argument is also a red herring. This is just a SF Parks & Rec faux pas. Why is the park closed any evening at all? That's a big WTF. My guess is it's a funding issue, especially since they said the reservation system was put in place to help the budget. Given the paltry dollars they could bring in in even the best of months, sounds like a sad situation.

Georgio highlited it exactly what was wrong.

The sign makes sense in an odd way. What doesn't make sense is everyone trying to figure out what it means to them.

Just read the sign. Regardless of whether it is right or wrong just read it and it will make sense. The best part is there is a phone number to call. Call it, ask questions.

I love how a sign is 3 pages of fuck you.

As I just demonstrated it isn't quite that simple. Just read it and it will make sense is complete BS.

We just watched somebody read it, argue how simple it was, and got it completely fucking wrong.

Regardless the issue is more of how both sides handled it, and not what the sign says. I feel like I am on both sides of the issue. To say there is not a problem though is just burying your heads in the sand. I find it funny that most are not even from the area, or even in the city at all.

Do tell, how did you achieve this status? How long did it take, at what point does your rising income risk loss of that status? :p

The real answer is STFU and play soccer. I think we can all agree with that.

If you think it is about income you're dead wrong. Also as already pointed out to assume those kids are poor is pretty fucked on its own.

I am a member of the community because I consider myself one and do what I can to make my neighborhood better. I know my neighbors and pay attention to what goes on.

I had a conversation with a brand new (one month from the east coast) transplant in my building about this incident on Sunday while hanging out in my garage...

He is not tech but had just gotten back from a soccer game. He sided completely with the techies and had a real aggressive attitude towards the other side of the argument.

My opinion is that the new San Franciscan only identifies with the tech attitude. They DO have a sense of entitlement, and it rubs many (even in the tech industry) the wrong way. If they took a step back and identified with their community at large and not just other tech industry folks you would see less of this. The point is they aren't interested in San Francisco at large. They are only interested in their little bubble (pun intended).

the real answer in this and related cases is that long term residents need to stand up to christopher columbus syndrome and tell the newly landed gentry to fuck off once in a while, especially when they infiltrate the local government and start slipping in bullshit 'rules' behind people's backs.

This all blew up on COLUMBUS DAY weekend

The tech-bro-douchebags are the Christopher Columbuses here to do business and the Natives are getting in the way.

The tech-bro-douchebags are colonizers.

Drop Box is the queen who sent the douche-bag Columbuses

The kids in the Mission who play there are the Native Indians. They were here first.

The hat guy AirBnB tech-bro-douche waving the paper is waving their Manifest Destiny in the name of tech.

Soccer, Airbnb, and the colonization of the Mission

How AirBnB's "Sharing" is actually the polar opposite

Shitty article. I love how it makes it a racial issue when it isn't.

So that I don't take things out of context, I'll just quote the whole post. Only the emboldened goes to why you are part of the community, I think. The last paragraph seems to be about general douchiness and entitlement (hardly limited to techs; I think many rich have that sense, natives included).

You are a member, because you say you are one? How do you know these techs, or techs in general, don't know their neighbors, try to make their communities better (one tech in the video said something to that effect) and don't "pay attention" (whatever that means)?

I am mainly just joking around, but it is funny what standards people apply to "member of the community."

As for income, it's pretty obvious some here think income is relevant to this, which is why I asked.

As I eluded to at the end which did actually tie things back together it is all what you identify with as your community. I consider myself a member because I try to act like one. I don't know if those guys in the dropbox shirts live in the area or not. Maybe they do, and maybe they don't. I know those kids are there playing soccer all the time. Neither side acted like they were part of the same community though and that is the problem.

Like I said, I am no native but I lived here for a decent amount of time, and seen quite a bit of change in the neighborhood.
