which wheelie requires more more skill?:ride
the standup 60-100 mph balancing act?

or cranked over coming out of a turn with a few inches of track left and the throttle wide open with the wheel a few inches off the ground?
which rider is more "sane"??:laughing

this. its not a wheelie. its a byproduct of trying to win.

its the mad skillz from being a stunna... any fool can crank the throttle or clutch it up, trash their bike a few times b4 they get it right. called learning. usually associated w/ mad skillz. i can't wheelie like that tho. to answer the question. requires mad skillz. and a will to learn.

The "... cranked over coming out of a turn with a few inches of track left and the throttle wide open with the wheel a few inches off the ground..." requires far more skill than the stand up.

That doesn't make the stand up uncool, but there's absolutely no contest at all as far as which one requires more skill.

Stand up wheelie on a public road = FAIL

Thanx, Russ

Did you ever notice that there aren't many 60 year old stunters?

:wtf GP bikes have what... 230+ HP, not that hard to roll on the throttle of out a turn.

I think the skill set is about equal being they are two different techniques. Both look :cool

Seeing stunting done in a parking lot for the kids to watch is cool and fun to see. Seeing a douche doing a Wheelie down 880 at 100mph is not cool but stupid.

The MotoGP Wheelie coming out of the corner is just brute power and not a big thing. However, being able to handle the speed and cornering of MotoGP IS a big thing and requires mad skills and big balls.

You can also pretty much guarantee that a MotoGP rider is more than capable of doing a Wheelie if they want as you can't ride like they do and not know how to control your bike. However I can pretty much guarantee your average stunter is not even remotely capable of keeping up with a MotoGP rider on the track. MotoGP = Mad Skills, Stunter = Look at me I'm cool and not much more.

Spin sliding the back wheel and pulling the front to get max weight transfer for the drive out of the corner. Watch speedway bikes in this mode for max entertainment. WFO gets my nod, , ,

Just stand at Turn 4 at Laguna and watch those guys exit at 100+ leaned way over with the tail waggin' and the wheel off the ground... that is the ultimate from my view... even I can do a wheelie as an old fat guy, but not like this...

But I do respect the cat-like balance and reflexes of true stunt riders... and it takes a lot of falling to find the limits in either discipline...

I wouldn't go as far to say that.
It behooves any rider to be able to have the level of control a good stunter has. IMHO stunting is the best method of expressing oneself on two wheels.

At the core of it, if you are a douchebag-cocksucker, it really doesn't matter what style of riding you do.

well you are more inclined for serious injury or death as a moto gp rider.

but it takes TONS of balance control concentration to stunt.

one can not be said better than the other one.

what is the number of PRO stunters against PRO racers?

Apples and oranges comparison here. The question boils down to who has a greater mastery of bike handling skills--the top level GP riders and stunt riders both have excellent abilities, but in different arenas. Even when you get to us mere mortals, it could be said that people have equivalent but different bike handling skills. Heck, even I can blow the doors off of some people on the street that I know can spank me at the track. That doesn't mean I'm necessarily a better rider--it means I am more comfortable with a higher level of risky riding on the street. And that doesn't mean that I'm comfortable with or capable of stunting.
