So I am moving to Hawaii (actually moved most of my stuff) and have been selling everything. The most important sale is my baby, CBR1000RR 2006. Painfully, I have sold my one piece, jackets, gloves, stands, etc. Everytime something sells, its that much further from doing what I love, riding.

Some say just get another Bike. I will, someday. This will be the first time I have been without a bike for 26 years (including 4 years of dirt). Why not take the bike. Well, I'm moving back home to Hawaii and do not want to ship it because of all the horror stories.

The Axe is about to drop.

I'm getting a deposit for my baby tonight. Once that happens, I will not ride her any more. :cry

***SNIFF***

Its been fun.
Its been a ride.

Nice bike, just make sure you get another ride when you get to Hawaii, best way ease the pain of your loss. :teeth

Hmmm..

So what will it be;
carefully plan the next purchase, (develop mission profile, research, price shopping, product comparison, market evaluation, etc...)

or

Just see what falls into your lap ?

WOW!!! That is a beautiful bike. Some lucky person will really enjoy that bike.

Good luck with your new life in Hawaii!!!!

I'm moving to the Big Island. The roads are not very safe for bikes. I might go back to dirt in time. To much to do when I get there. I'm moving back to help my parents who are getting older.

I NEED A SHOULDER

sounds like dual sport/ motard time for you...

I'd give you a shoulder, but I'm kinda jealous of you getting rid of everything....I has too much stuff

I need a girl's shoulder to disperse my tears of sorrow and to lean on with my ever so soft skin (my cheek you gutter minds)

:teeth

Back to the Rock! Lucky you Braddah!!! I hope to make it back within the next few years (Ohau though). :cool

The horror stories you hear....is it specifically with the Big Island ports? Or just shipping to Hawaii in general? Or shipping motos to Hawaii? I've shipped many a cars over to Ohau without any problems so far (knock on wood). No motos too....yet. :p

What he said..... Take the money you make off your RR and buy a motard as soon as you get there, make sure to get both sets of rims so you can enjoy it on street & dirt. :ride

True, it is Hawaii...lol

Shipping motos both from the mainland and inter island is bad. The bikes have to be on pallet and/or boxed ($$$), then they move them with fork lifts.

They just don't know how to handle bikes.

My truck gets shipped in 2 weeks

bummer

Why not take the bike with you? I shipped the same bike from Kona to the mainland, than back and then back again over a 4 year period and it came through fine each time. Hell i didn't even drain the tank, just box and go.

In what way aren't the roads safe for bikes? I've only been to the big island once, but I didn't see much in the way of crazy traffic around Hilo.
Road conditions? For Hawaii, a dual sport would be ideal. They're cheaper to buy than sportbikes, and the suspension can handle any kind of road you'll find.

A DRZ in Hawaii would be heaven!

Too bad you can't split..
