Many years ago on a forum far, far away, there was a thread titled "The Box". It has been a minute, so I have likely forgotten key aspects, but I believe the gist of it was that somebody had a trinket, boxed it up, and sent it to another member. The recipient would then acquire another quirky item, look in the thread to find out who was the next interested party, negotiate shipping to them via PM, and would send it off, maybe accompanied by a little love note. Other members here might be able to provide additional context (AHEM @Frisco , or anyone else who had an SV, TL, or Strom).
I would like to revive the tradition, but the original forum does not have the sense of community that it once had, IMO. BARFers, on the other hand, are special (we'll stop short of saying 'neurodivergent'). We DO have a community. And, I recently stumbled across my trinket that I received oh so long ago. I would like to pass along this little bit of oddness to an interested BARFer, and re-engage the tradition. I am happy to mail the trinket, or, maybe it would be fun to initiate a meetup as part of the tradition, if the participants are local to each other.
I suppose we could take a hint from a Yankee swap and say that if you ADORE your trinket, you could keep it, brag about it, post photos of it, and have the babies of whoever gave it to you, and if you don't, you could just pass it along to the next person. Rules? There are no rules. Aside from use good form, stay safe, be where you are today... okay, there's some rules.*
If you want to play, say so, and I'll PM the first poster for their address and I'll mail it off or arrange a meet. Then they can check the thread for anyone else that's interested, wash, rinse, and repeat.
You're all smarter than me so it's on you to point out the flaws in the plan.
