The Counter - Walnut Creek

I love the one at Santa Row. (San Jose?)

Yes, expensive, but I love to be able to make my own burger.

I think they are ok too. I absolutely love the Pretzel bun they offer.

Aris, I had the best Mac n cheese ever in aspen this year...$18 for this stuff! But man....it was ridiculous! Stanford's stuff worth a shot?

I've been ordering mac and cheese at any restaurant in every restaurant that I've been to across the US that has it on their menu. So far, Stanford's mac and cheese is the best that I've had.

I have a buddy that used to say the same thing until he went on a road trip to Oregon. They stopped at this little hole in the wall spot near Crater Lake in Oregon. According to him, that place has the best mac and cheese he has ever had. So, unless you're looking to do a road trip to Crater Lake like I am, the Stanford's mac & cheese is worth a shot. :thumbup

But, please send me the info on your spot in Aspen so I can compare.

One thing I've noticed about The Counter and it's (ahem) counterpart The Habit is that they tend to undercook the meat. After hearing all the reports about the need to completely cook ground meats I find it disconcerting to get a burger that's pink in the middle. The Counter fresh grinds their own meat daily, or so I've been told by a manager but I dont know about the Habit. I've sent my meal back twice there and gotten a more well cooked meal.

It's supposed to be bloody. Stop ruining it.

I'm gonna try Stanford's this weekend. Thanks for the tip!

www.cachecache.com On the Bar menu.

I agree that Georges is good, but it's no better than nations :x

+ 1 on the meh & eh...

not the greatest for its price...

only ate the one at corte madera after the rides ...dunno if it's all the same tho'...

I ate there for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Sweet baby Jesus, that was the best ribeye I ever had (that place is also stupid expensive).

not as expensive as Ruths Chris :drool

We are going there in June when me sister gets here. I cashed in some AmEx point things (yeah, total waste of them but they are sitting there doing absolutely nothing anyway) so I have $750 in gift cards :party

That should be enough for four of us. We'll pay cash for the bar tab :rofl

And I have eaten at Ruth Chris. Flemmings was far superior.

Good food but like said above, pricey. $54 for a date and that was no drinks, just burgers, and sweet potato fries.

Fat Maddies in San Ramon is fun and inexpensive, not nearly the scenery though. For the price, CANNOT beat Nations for a burger.
