The Electric Motorcycle Thread

There are EV chargers at Carnegie however your motorcycle needs to have a J1772 outlet which a FX does not have and a DSR needs the Charge tank accessory to use it.
I charge my 2017 Zero DS at 6.3 KW from J-1772.

I charge my 2017 Zero SR at ~ 7.8KW from J-1772. I have a switch to lower the charge rate down to ~6.3 as many J-1172 charging stations cannot handle more.

See me hogging up both J-1772 plugs here to get my ~7.8 KW on my 2017 Zero SR.

that's hilarious, not only seeing that Honda Helix 250cc maxi scooter out there,
but those sur rons going past a bunch of dirt bikes sitting stuck on a wet uphill. :laughing

Got an email about Zero putting larger battery packs in their bikes that, from what I'm reading, have paid unlockable capacity? Like DLC for capacity that you already paid for. Sounds like bullshit if I'm reading that right.

Yeah, check this out: https://www.zeromotorcycles.com/cypherstore

Some of it I understand, like if you want on-dash navigation that's more of a software thing. I can understand 'unlocking' software updates if you really want them.

The unlocking additional battery capacity is... hmm. Not really a fan. You already own the hardware.

My theory is that they make more money and only purchase 1 battery pack from their manufacturer. So from a manufacturing perspective it's far simpler. Additionally they get economies of scale on 1 battery pack instead of purchasing 7 different builds.

Just did a quick build on their website with Cypher Store Upgrades (Heated grips, unlock 100% charge rate, full range capacity, etc) + SR/S with Power Tank = $28,970 before tax/license etc.

Yikes.

Meh I'm still going to get an Energica, still superior and not funny gimmicks you gotta buy in to. You'll literally get what you pay for.

Figure I'll post this VLOG here. We were the first ever electric bike class to race the Virginia City Grand Prix and it was TOUGH.

Where did the guy go on the EM?

Adv bike from 2019
https://youtu.be/fZ_ru7gOuGg

I don't know I never saw him but he came in 4th in the class. He was behind me somewhere. He completed one lap but not the 2nd. Probably either bailed after the first lap or battery ran out of juice on the 2nd lap.

I'm wondering how a Redshift would have done in this race. The closest thing was that XR250. Butch you should race this next year and bring all your bikes and swap after every lap haha! You only have to get your helmet to the transponder receiver and find a way to swap the number plates quickly.

Whoa. That looks like a Cake with real wheels. The one i rode has mtn bike spec wheels which kinda sucked... Otherwise it was cool.

16hp... at least you can get them with supermoto wheels!

16HP more than enough to dominate the electric class
