The future of monocycle racing…..

I wonder how they accelerate and brake, seems like they do it by leaning forward or back.

I’m sure some leaning fore and aft is involved, though accelerating is probably easier, likely enhanced with electronic controls. But certainly it would be a challenge to brake hard as opposed to accelerating.

Give them baseball bats wrapped in barb wire ,that would be fun to watch.;-)

When I first watched the race, it appeared to me that the riders were reaching out to play grab ass with the rider in front. Further observation dispelled that notion.

It's kind of like a one wheel you lean in the direction you want to go. Works like an electric motorcycle they accelerate and slow down use regenerative braking. They are pretty fast they can go 30+ mph and looks like they are flying. I've seen them zipping around San Jose. They can also ride on trails too.

That being said I'd probably kill myself on one haha, I can ride a one wheel at all I don't think this'd be any easier.

It's pretty they have pucks on their hand

Next, on TheOcho; The Uniwheel Racing Series! Watch 4-men vie for, 3-podiums, with 2-brass-balls, on 1-wheel!

I followed one of those out into the soggy bottoms west of Arcadia, to the beach. Real goaty road, was bouncing around at speed, holding a line.
I was following on my mini holding the cars off this guy, he was going somewhere, jumped on a bike path and rolled across a bridge, northbound.

With the dark armor worn, this looks much like the movie RollerBall, :wow
Hands free, just like the skaters.

Are there street legal versions of these monocycles?

I'm plated, but I don't remember even looking for a plate on his ride, or brake light. I assumed it was all about electric, small stuff.
I did notice a mirror attached to the backside of his left hand.
There is a lot of different electric stuff in this town, home of the Kinetic Vehicle Parade.

the dismount of the monocycle is so not exciting lol

there are a few of these at work, and they fly down our hill, some guy wear a bicycle helmet, and other wears a full face

Caught a vid of some urban adventure riding,
riding down stairs/escalators, didn't work past the second step, , ,
Rider left standing, watching the "wheel" bounce down the steps.
Dismount ?? both feet @ same time??
Or is there a one foot Brodie, dragging a floorboard, :cool step off?
