The Home Grower's Thread

Nice! I like your soft trimming too. Commercial trimming is annoying, they cut off all the nice looking frost on the outside. I'd rather have a little extra leaf with frosty goodness.

The smaller main tent plants are quite frosty but the largest ones aren't.

I wonder if it's crappy genetics or I just didn't feed them right.

Do you use a booster at the end? Koolbloom or the like?

I've just started using stuff beyond the base nutrients and stuff I add to the R/O water. I got tons of high end free stuff from ABC.

Check your genetics. Some strains can take upwards of 10-12 weeks for a finish. Always, ALWAYS do your research when planting new genetics.

I've staked the taller plants' taller stems so no more falling over.

I realize one major issue might be the RED BAND FLOWER light wasn't on on the LED and it may have been a week may have been 2 weeks, who knows. BAH.

Got a 4x4 from a craigslist Russian old man brand new in the box for $175.00. It was NOT FUN setting up in such a confined space alone.

It's frickin' huge. So much room. I hung both lights.

Have a ton of old tent parts to toss now. The tent has easy 360 access despite the size. Also has room for dual or triple fans. ANd the power bar.

When drying the dope, I take it from the dryer when it feels dry but I find a couple of days in an airtight container it seems to rehydrate. Is that just the moisture on the inner plant coming to the surface?

Yes. That's part of the curing process, getting the center and the outside the same is the hard part. Carful not to let the center stay too moist too long. It's the perfect place for mold to proliferate. Occasionally burping the bag/container is a must.

For anybody wanting to grow with (regular) seeds and can't afford to wait/lose productivity to males - Phylos Bioscience Plant Sex Test

Pretty cool stuff.

Also, drop the bottled nutrients - big-name brands that bottle marked-up crap. Bloom boosters, fancy labels, high-priced solutions....mostly all unnecessary crap most of which gets oversold and overused.

Thank me later.

Anyone has cuttings or seeds that they wanna share? I can trade you with vegetable, flower seeds. :D

I have some auto-flower seeds I could send you.

So the news setup has heat issues. It's in the high 80s. I have a 6" fan and filter and use LED lights but the hot air I think is getting sucked back into the tent. I may need to extend the exhaust so it goes out the garage?

It's 6 5 gallon springpots now, I was waiting for the last 2 seeds to germinate.

Should I move the tent somewhere else? It's at the back of the garage now. I can control humidity pretty well

I've seen some cool cool devices on youtube, like a flower decarboxylation machine and a home test that scans the bud and gives within 20% accuracy breakdown like a lab would.

Also been watching movies on making extracts (mostly oils or tinctures, I don't want to mess with butane or other explosive type extracts).

Also so many videos on high end weed dinners I'm going to host one soon.

Decarb'd about 6 ounces of trim in a vacuum sealed bag for 2 hours @ 203. It really balloons up from the gasses being released which make sit annoyingly to submerge.

It's amazing how long between waterings in the early stages of growth when using 5 gallon pots with coco-perlite. I'm in week 3 and only have had to do 2 "full" waterings. Prior to that as the plants were tiny I only watered the plugs directly and a little water in the coco.

I'm blown away with the size after 2 weeks but I guess dual LED lights with over 1000 watt equivalent will do that.

Week 3 (day 17).

I think after this grow I'll be good for like a year but I'm obsessed with the process.
