The Official 2012 NFL Thread

AFC is still a bunch of Johnny Come Latelys that made the game what it is today.

hope you enjoy that vaunted vertical pass attack of Jersey (a), and the rules regarding kickoffs...both of which were key to the run up to and winning of the superbowl. Those were AFL rules the NFL adopted, as you know.

in other news, Ed Hochule reported that once hearing he has his job back, he was so excited that he celebrated by....doing pushups.

Hey look, I didn't say these new kids haven't contributed anything. It's just that you're only good for so much when a team has only been around for 40-50 years. Buncha young whippersnappers.

hey at this point I'll take any comments suggesting I'm young in any way :thumbup

I'm not bitter, it's been a good ride.

:)

yes it has...some great and meaninful games betwixt the Steelers and the Raiders, especially back in the day. as a fan of the other side of the rivalry, I gotta say that it is pretty cool that one team had to go through the other just about every year. I'd say that it was most likely due to the high caliber confrontation between our teams that made them battle ready to topple the NFC time and time again in the superbowls.

hard to hate the Steelers when thinking of the great battles. :thumbup

there are many reasons to hate the Steelers.

I just happen to like the fact that the Raiders had to go through some tough losses, some unbearably tough losses, to finally get over the hump and beat them. I don't think the Raiders would have won their 2 first superbowls without that extreme challenge from Pittsburgh, and perhaps that's true for them as well.

before my time, but looking at the history and some highlights, those games must have been all out war: NFL at it's finest.

Ya coulda just stopped there, ya know. I prefer the Steelers of the Mark Malone years.... :laughing

(Actually, I have mad respect and envy for a consistant, well run franchise like the Steelers, which made the Raiders win last Sunday all the more enjoyable as an accomplishment for franchise isn't either of those things, yet.)

Browns-Ravens game is right now, somebody posted this poem on the NFL page. :rofl

Take I-77 north till you get to the end,
you will come to a city that just can't win.
For Browns lost the big one to the Broncos twice before,
when Byner dropped the ball at the goal line door.
The mighty Indians went to the big dance twice,
but just like the Browns they were throwing ice cold dice.
The fans would scream and shout "come on Indians our city you must save",
but they got tomahawked by Tom Glavine and the Braves.
Then Lebron James bought the promise of a championship to Cleveland,
but he packed his bags and said I'm a leavin'.
I'm sick and tired of getting my asz beat,
I'm going down south and play for the Heat.
But the first to leave was Art Modell,
He said the city is going to hell,
The toilets are leaking and the dog pound is falling down,
It's time to pack our bags and leave town,
All the Browns fans are sheding tears,
Because they know they will go 3-13 for the next 25 years,
For it's the city that everyone is leavin',
because you can hear the champagne popping everywhere except in Cleveland.

Did they post it with an Iphone5 :twofinger

Ravens looked GOOD tonight. Flacco can zing that ball around well.

I watched the Pats game too and I think Flacco looks TERRIBLE. I mean, give the guy props for getting yards and shit, but it seems like every third pass is some 40 yard meatball that splats WAY out of the WR's reach.
