The Official 2016/2017 NFL Thread

This is my first year. A chick I work with roped me into it. I got Eli, Odell and the NYG Defense, so, I feel good. :laughing

You caved? :laughing

I've been in dead fucking last place the whole FF season. But I won this week (sorry Ducky) and have a great shot at jumping up into the coveted 2nd-from-last place position.

Jets' D-line is among the best in the league, yet still they squander the talent with another losing season.

this just in from the no-one-gives-a-shit department:

Kaepernick bought a condo in Manhattan and is selling his house in san jose. Look out Fitzpatrick, someone's eyeballing your job (that you just lost, again).

Man, last year the Jets looked so promising... this year, not so much.

Last night they looked like a team that just gave up. Revis Island is deserted, Fitzpatrick looked like a guy that missed training camp... did the O-line even attempt to protect the QB?

I predict Kaepernick will not be on an NFL team after this year. He is worthless, and corrosive to the 49ers morale. All that 17 year-old political discovery/awareness bit is just so beside-the-point for our local franchise. CFL maybe. I'd take Fitzpatrick though that would be frustrating in short order as well...at least Fitzpatrick isn't grinding any axes.

I want Kelly to stay. I want Baalke and Kaep to go. We can't fire Jeddie but at least he could get a new boyfriend.

Let's see how long Kaep stays famous after he takes off a uniform. I dunno, he could go back to school and do some kind of Dr. Harry Edwards thing....

It ain't easy to say these things. I was a Kaep believer and supporter in the past five years. But he's seems like a true has-been. He'd played his best when he was young and springy, his athleticism carrying him through his obviously inferior technique. I am sorry he never got to a great football school to get that technique, too. But he can no longer run his way out of situations without getting pasted and his passing accuracy is not NFL level. Who wants the guy as a backup even with all his baggage?

I hope I'm wrong for his sake.

Given the current pool of QB talent, Kaep will be on an NFL team next year...

I know you are probably correct but I can't imagine any NFL owner wanting him. But I am not objective, I have a history of aversion therapy from watching him play. I just can't watch more than five minutes of Niner football and him playing without getting the same bad old feeling. It's actually affected my ability to watch ANY football anymore. Just starting to hate it, especially since I am logging in so much Warriors time...

And I know I am vulnerable to not understanding a basic thing: that a good O-line might make him magically seem better.
But one prediction I made that came true: when they traded away Frank Gore they lost an incredibly durable RB that Carlos Hyde could never match. His consistent yardage made a huge difference in the "execution" of their seemingly simplistic Baalke scheme. Gore might be old, but I think he's still better than the younger guys...

They didn't trade Gore. He elected to sign with Indy after his contract ran out.

Yeah, I shouldn't have put it that way. But I think they let him go, thinking they had younger legs. But I have never believed the successors could have his durability. Frank Gore reminds me of the old images of breaking rocks in a chain gang. All those bad years of pounding him down the middle and he kept producing and producing. The guy is incredible. I am fanboy for life of this most unglamorous NFL player.

This is one of the worst MNF games I've tried to watch in a very long time... thankfully the reminder came up for the Warriors game.

Thanks to the Jets sucking, I survive one more week in the fantasy football playoffs. :laughing

So practicing in Florida sunshine isn't going to help you win a game in the snow?
no kidding. in years past they stayed in youngstown, oh when they did the easy coast stay over.

but chip's old oregon assistant coach coaches central florida, so... derp.

i'll root for an Indy SuperBowl just for him. no question.

i don't give a shit about college ball (generally) but i still can't wrap my head around McGahee, Portis, and Gore all being in the same backfield. just no fair hehe

The Browns could always use another QB... haha

Im sure there are teams that would sign him as a backup

I dunno. Why??? The guy is a trainwreck and is too busy being an activist. Most markets aren't as "tolerant" as SF. Many owners are more on the patriotism wagon etc...

about as hard as it was to get raider tickets a couple of years ago. at least the niner games are technically "sold out" and home games haven't been blacked out since the 70's.

The final quarter of the season.

Huge game for the Raiders tonight. Win = AFC West dominance

Will the Lions win the NFC North?
Will three playoff teams come out of the AFC West?
Is there an NFC team that can challenge Dallas?

Will the Lions win the NFC North? Not if the Boys in Blue have anything to say about it.

Is there an NFC team that can challenge Dallas? You will find out on Sunday, but with JPP out for the rest of the season, it doesn’t look good.

You're saying Frank Gore should be the Browns QB? Hmmm, at least he could stay on the field...
