The Official 2016/2017 NFL Thread

nah I said AFTER next year.

Someone could trade for him this offseason and get his last year of his rookie deal to see if he can actually play.

If somebody offered the Pats a 2nd after this year, they'd probably take it. They will get a 3rd rounder comp pick if he walks next season anyway.

You make an excellent point. Baalke is toast after this season, so more terrible deals may be out of the Niners future.

Eh Baalke's worst trait is missing on some draft picks. He has done fine on signing FAs and trades.

He'll be let go, though. Gamble will be promoted and Kelly will stay because 4 HCs in 4 years is some Al Davis Raiders level shit.

I imagine Jim ONeill will be gone (JFC I hope so) and a DC that's not complete crap will be brought in.

Hopefully they don't fuck up and draft a QB. Either run up and take Garrett if Cleveland don't take him or trade back and take Ruben Foster around 10 or so. I'd even gamble and give NE a 3rd and a conditional pick next year for Jimmy G.

It isn't that inexplicable. I have been keeping my eye on Mariota all year. This team has quietly been sneaking into 1st place in their division behind some really solid QB play and decent D. Perfect trap game and now they are tied with the Texans to take 1st in AFC South, which admittedly is a pretty bad division.

The Chefs had a 10 point lead at home, and they lost it. They don't normally do things like that since Smith and Reid came to town.

Crabtree's TD catch was amazing.

Now can someone other than us, PLEASE BEAT THE FUCKING COWGIRLS!

Get in the pot. :laughing

Yeah, I would say Baalke's worst sin is chasing the Niners only winning coach in 20 years out of town, but hey, that is just me. I still don't believe in Kelly, but I think you're right, you can't give a Head Coach a dumpster fire team like this for one year and expect him turn it around over night. I think Kelly should be a transition guy, but if I was a Niner, I would be worried that he would continue to destroy my team the way he obliterated the Eagles, which was an annoyingly consistent winning franchise before he got there. The draft seems pretty deep with Defenders and if I was the Niners I would look at trading the #2 pick down for a cornucopia of lower picks, beef up the Defense and the O-Line, lose Kaep (or once he realizes no one wants him, sign him to a 3 mill a year he is worth) and find a QB in the draft for 2018. If the can shore up the line, pick up one or two decent receivers to work with Celek, McDonald and Hyde, they could have a reasonably functional offense for a rookie to ease into in 2018. The Defense has a couple guys, but needs a few more. Free Agency in 2018 may also help solve the problem. Have them be a threat again by 2019 season.

I loved that bit, LOL.

I can't pretend I know exactly what the Niners need. My beef with Kelly is not playing Ponder fercrynoutloud. I am sick of Afro-man. Get him off the field and into the ranks of the unemployed ASAP. I saw Baalke in a suit on the sidelines. Yeah. Buh-bye.

Keap isn't in SClara next year, so the only reason I think Chip plays him is to give them the best chance to lose. But enough about them.

Sean Smith...woof. damn, he gives up way too many big plays. The D-front needs to put more pressure on for this secondary to look better. fortunately Mario Edwards Jr. is scheduled to play Christmas eve. The Raiders defense in general has steadily improved...but it's still a mid-pack defense at best.

Still no word on Aldon Smith either. Maybe he tried to pretend it wasn't him in that video when he and Goodell met. The guy's a jackass, but at some point the league has to give him a path forward. At this point it should be assumed that he won't be back this year. Unfortunate for him, but not unexpected and definitely not undeserved. But...give him a ruling already.

I love how it was Irvin who had the big game yesterday instead of Mack. This will fuck with other team's D-coordinators more.

No they don't. He was suspended indefinitely.

not exactly. he was suspended one year, then would have to apply for reinstatement. there's a difference. He applied for reinstatement, in which Goodell should have 60 days to make a decision. Now, that decision could be to keep him suspended. but a decision should be made nonetheless.

"All individuals involved in the process will take steps to enable the Commissioner to render a decision within 60 days of the receipt of the application"

The 60 days is to turn in all of the information. It's not to make a decision.

Goodell received the application of reinstatement on 27Oct. according to you, he has been enabled and his own deadline is 26Dec.

Wrong interpretation. They have to submit everything within 60 days of the 1 year deadline for applying to be reinstated.

They don't have to give a decision though.

while you may be right, but that's not what it says. the application you refer to is the application for reinstatement.

Goodell is supposed to give a decision, but that decision may be to extend the suspension. And there seems to be no recourse if he indeed does not give a decision.

The same thing happened with Josh Gordon. He didn't get a decision until a few months after his "60 day window"

The 60 day window is not the deadline for the league to give the player a decision. IDK how else to tell you that.
