The Official 2016/2017 NFL Thread

Gawd-damn, four games, four complete and utter ass-beatings. BORING.

Let's hope next weekend has some actual competitive games, shit!

We had a good year, the defense will be monster next season. I don't have a lot of complaints, the Pack played a better game today. If you have to lose, they are a great team to lose to.

I'm worried Eli may be played out. Either that, or his monster season last year was due to Coughlin Coaching and McAdoo was just taking instruction, either could mean longer term trouble for the G-Men. We have the best receiving corps in the NFL this year. This needs to be solved now before this WIN NOW Defense falls apart.

Giants would do well to draft Eli's replacement in the mid rounds this year. Pat Mahomes or Davis Webb or something.

Cooks receivers dropped too many passes in clutch situations. The long one along the left sidelines that hit Cooper right in the hands was the most memorable for me. I know it was a long shot. Too bad they weren't able to rally around the kid. He's a gamer.

multiple dropped passes were killers, from both Cooper and Crabs. it was a big reason why they lost. they needed to lean on the most talented part of the offense at the time (the WRs). Coop and Crabs should have been like "yo Cook, just get us the ball and we'll do the rest." But they let the team down.

Another big reason was Penn missing the game via injury, and Hudson going down in the middle of the game. that's two pro bowl o-linemen: the left tackle and the center. even with Carr, that's super tough to overcome. Clowney was going to probably have a good game anyways, but he feasted on Watson, who made his first start at LT ever.

I think if the offense were able to get few first downs instead of dropping passes and missing blocks, that would have set up the defense to get after Osweiler a little more effectively. All in all the defense wasn't completely awful.

Everything was set up for them to get annihilated, but they were able to score 14 and were in the conversation for most of the game. That was promising.

I'd take Cook on the 9ers. I think he can start in the NFL. And even if he falls a tad short he would be a serviceable backup.

P.S. My take on the weekend: Sad the Raiders and Lions didn't pull one out. Happy the Gnats and 'Fins are out just cuz I wanna be a crab in a pot for my fellow BARFers :twofinger. And super duper happy the Bungholes didn't even make the playoffs. I find it funny and satisfying that we haven't been graced with any fancy Bunghole post-game graphics posted by ElBakaloa this season. :rofl Fucking awesome. :thumbup

I think we have to address it, but mid-round QB's are kind if hit or miss. Nassib I think was a good find there, but I'm honestly worried that McAdoo is the problem, not Eli. I think last year, Coughlin was calling the offense and Eli was Nuclear powered. This year, the old OC is now the HC and Eli is flat, but what is more telling to me is Ryan Nassib our #2 for some years, who usually kills it in the preseason, stank it up this year. Really makes me think this is a coaching problem, not a player problem.

Right now, we don't have any real brutal needs other than a development QB and maybe a RB. Depth on the O-Line is a need, particularly at the vaunted Tackle position. LB is still a serious need, but apparently our GM gives not a fuck about that job, so it isn't worth mentioning. I think NYG goes with the typical, "Best Player Available Strategy."

Yeah, but with Carr gone, there was less than Zero hope of getting through Boston. Just none at all. It was a great season for the Ghetto Pirates, they should rejoice for a team that is young strong, and ready to compete with a chip on their shoulder next year.

He didn't look played out when he was throwing the ball perfectly but it kept bouncing off Beckham's hands. :laughing

Yeah, well, Like I said, based on Nassib's play in the pre-season, I have a sinking feeling that McAdoo's one look offense has been the problem all season.

And on the other side of the coin.... :laughing

...But we just aren't the same Underdog Heroes that we were under Mean Grandpa.

I fucking hate that we cut him loose and kept the GM. Eli would HAVE a third ring by now if they had been willing to spend on talent a few years ago like they did after they cut the Coach.

Just can't believe how dull all four wildcard games were, the home teams destroyed the road teams. Compared to last year when all four road teams won.

Parity and shit.

So far my picks are panning out... I think KC/Pittsburg is gonna be a good game...

Yup, don't forget that Pittsburgh almost beat the eventual Super Bowl champ Broncos in the playoffs last year.

I don't think any of the college QBs are day 1 NFL starters in the draft this year. If a guy like Kaaya or Mahomes drops to the 3rd, or if Josh Allen declares and doesn't shoot up boards like Wentz did last year, they could all be really good draft and develop guys.

Allen in particular I would love to draft and sit for a few seasons to coach him up.

iirc without Brown, Bell, Williams, and a very banged up Ben too

Yeah, Green Bay and Pitt could be a legit Superbowl this year. That would be awesome to have those two historic franchises in together. It is so rare that the AFC gets to put a properly dignified (More than 65 years old) football team into the Superbowl.
