The Official 2016/2017 NFL Thread

Ok, now I want a blowout! You guys got your close game for the day, I need Pittsburgh to destroy them!

Chiefs fan here. I just want a good game.

Congratulations to the Steelers.

Knew walking into KC is was going to be tough! Another tough road game next week.

Boston vs. The Cheese will be a hell of a game, but I suspect that the Green Bay Defense is too banged up to stop Matty Ice.

As long as Brady loses, I don't care.

Though it would certainly be nice for Green Bay to go all the way.

is it me, or is there a concussion-type injury sustained every week with the opponents of the Steelers?

the league made some strides making two personal fouls in one game an ejectable offense. at some point, the league needs to make the penalties cumulative.

All part of the Steeler "persona" and a product of the Rooney's reach arounds and gentle caresses to Goodell and the NFL brass.... :laughing

Yeah, next week's AFC championship is a quandary for me, can both teams lose?

I'm thinking Seattle has something for Atlanta. The Seahawks are scrappy.

Just plz have some good games this weekend, NFL. Last weekend was the most boring playoff weekend I can ever remember.

nope! lol

Now THAT was a game.

I really liked some of the plays the OC were calling... the Dak 2 pt play was pretty nice.

I would say that it happens all over the league and its a consequence of playing football. What hits happened yesterday that you are referring to?

I am not so sure my SB pick is going to pan out... steelers look a bit tired, couldnt score TD's yesterday, Big Ben looked a bit flustered to me.

GB's defense worries me... we shall see though

I'm gonna root for Matt Ryan, he deserves some success. The guy has been clutch since he pretty much saved the Falcon franchise after the Vick/Petrino debacle. He's earned the name "Matty Ice" with some pretty good comebacks in his career and the Falcons have been under the radar given that most of the playoff attention went to the Giants, Packers, and 'boys.

oh yeah, I do remember that play now..

I wouldnt think it fair to have penalties from other games affect a game... I am all for fines being assessed to those who are going out and intentionally trying to harm people. I would say that the play above was not intentional

It would certainly be tough to separate the plays where helmet-to-helmet contact could be ruled accidental. That said, I don't think fines really slow these guys down. only games missed would be effective, but I don't have a great idea in how to implement it.

I interpreted the intent of the player differently. I understand how it could be seen as him trying to duck his head and lead with the shoulder though.

Every time Ryan has a good game (which is often), I'm like "dammit Parcells, you could've drafted him in Miami with the #1 pick but you went with an o-lineman instead." : |

I don't understand. It's football. The whole point of the game is to physically dominate the other team. I understand the need to compartmentalize this within the rules and I'm okay with even the targeting rules set up in college ball. But hitting someone with your helmet is but one method of imposing your physical will on them. One among many. If you're going to rule it out completely then you might as well end the game completely.

You don't like Brady, but are cool with Rodgers? Me thinks your filter needs some tuning to include them both.
