The Official 2016/2017 NFL Thread

Just found out Kellyanne Conway is an Eagles fan. That pretty much says it all folks.

RIGHT?

I think Raperberger sticks around. I would expect he will play out his contract through 2019, but at least for another year or two to allow the team to develop a back up option.

lmao.

after interviewing all the good candidates available, Niners hiring John Lynch (yes, the old Tampa Bay safety and current Fox analyst) as GM.

for 6 years.

he has no previous front office experience. at all.

fuck.

I could see it.

Lynched played when Shanahan was in Denver.

Well, does he have more qualifications than Balke had when he was hired? :laughing

He kind of resembles Balke. Looks like Jed has a 'type'. :laughing

No. Baalke had YEARS of scouting experience for several organizations and then became director of player personnel before GM.

Lynch played, retired, went to Fox, and I guess plays Madden on franchise mode?

In an unfortunate misunderstanding, it was found that rather than hiring the great Football Defender, Jed York has hired known Irish Writer and Director John Lynch as General Manager of the San Jose 49ers. When asked to speak on the matter, Mr. York could be heard to say, "I think it would be great, because I really like immigrants, and how cool would it be for us to have Moll Flanders style offense?"

I'm thinking the long term results are going to be a net positive. How positive will depend on how quickly they pull the team up out of the gutter. It's going to be a good thing overall for a couple of reasons.

Reports stating that Kyle Shanahan will be taking the HC job indicate that his dad is also going to be hired in an advisory role. He actually has some history with the 49ers being the OC the last time the 49ers made it to the promised land. The support he will provide to both Kyle and Lynch will be enough to get them through the first few years if not spectacularly then at least adequately.

The other big positive is that Lynch has the respect of players past and present. He is well respected around the league for his fairness as well as toughness and work ethic. He has exactly the type of pedigree the 9ers need to turn around the team culture and the overall perception people have of it.

I think this is probably the best move the team has made in the FO in decades. Either that or we're up for more years of suck. In which case I hope we don't ever tie the Lions' 0-16 record. My sense is it's actually going to turn out though.

What was up with that dude's wicked horny slo-mo pelvic thrusts? That ref was super down with it.
