The OFFICIAL BARF Fantasy Football League

o.k. so it's pretty clear the majority don't want to go past 12 [ we have 6 nays].

so all i have to say, if we're turning down potential league members, the 12 people in this league better be active and engaged throughout the season even if your team sucks.

for the good of the competition and to make playoff teams work for their spot, at least put up a fight even if your team has no chance at the playoffs: at least check your team once a week, make sure you have a full line up, drop anyone who is out for the year (unless you want to keep them for next year), continue to add/drop players if it improves your team, make trades, etc.

remember it's a keeper league this time, so you can always participate in the shit talking by telling everyone how great your team will be next year :p

OMG.. you mean to play Fantasy Football, we actually have TO PLAY?!?

:wtf

Just look into your crystal ball and see who is gonna be the lame duck this year, and just kick them out. :p

I can tell you for sure that I will participate no matter how shitty a team I have. :thumbup

We should have a poll.

Do you want to play in a barf FF league. And by play we mean be competitive. And by be competitive we mean still try even though your team sucks. And by team sucks, we mean that even when you sucked it hard during the draft and picked people who aren't even playing. And by you suck, we mean we don't like you.

So do you?

it's a little more difficult this year since no one has come out and publicly stated that they are only going to pick players from the shitty team they root for

And in that vain, of not picking players from shitty teams, I promise not to draft any 49ers or Raiders.

As this is a keeper league, I probably won't be drafting anyone in the either of the WEST divisions. :rofl

I will echo SteelerMike's comments about the west... y'all are pretty safe, but I might grab what I need to from non-CA teams.

good to know you already have your strategy in place. :thumbup

IIRC as many as we like up to 5.

Max ?
the default was 3. i didn't change it, but can change it up until the draft. 3 seems kind of low. five seems better, discuss.

also, the espn default had trade vetos only to be decided by the league manager as opposed to yahoo which left it up to a league vote. so what do you guys want: my decision or league vote? if league vote, how many votes?

also, since we're doing keepers, i think we should have an injured reserve. that way you can add a player without having to drop someone you may want next season. default is no IR, max is 4

as far as changes tweaking the rules:
- i vote for a 5 player bench and 1 or 2 player IR
- i vote for 4 or 5 keepers but it should be mandatory that 2 of them be rookies or sophomores
- trade votes, use both methods: league vote, 5 "no's" to veto + commissioner can review any trades that pass and reverse them if they're horribly egregious.
*edit - deleted Flex comment*

those are just my preferences, i'll play with whatever the group decides on.

as far as playing through the season:
- i promise my team will suck
- i promise when i beat you i will talk shit, mercilessly
- i promise to not win any games
- i promise to play through the whole season, regardless of record
- i promise i am not a Raider fan (do get extra draft picks for that?)

just so all of you are aware, here is the way the league is right now:

qb 1
rbs 2
wrs 2
flex wr/te 1
flex wr/rb 1
d 1
bench 7
ir 0
keeper 3

so, when i set it up i eliminated the te and made it a flex. i also eliminated the 3rd wr and made it a flex. think this gives everyone a little more flexability in drafting and picking up free agents.

2 IR
Min 2 Keeper, Max 4, 1 Rookie

With a possible 4 WRs, they will go the quickest through the draft, gar-on-tee. :laughing

Trade veto, I could care less, but it should automatically go through in 3 days. Waiting for you knuckleheads to check the website will wear quickly on my patience. And the biggest way to get people to stop playing is to rely on other people checking the website in order to get your own team to work right.

I vote to give the commissioner sole power over trade vetoes. It'll streamline things. and we all trust Max, no? si? no?

actually, it's more work for me. i'd rather set it at x number of vetoes.

you guys think i put in too many wr spots? i was kind of worried about changing anything after the great qb debacle of '08

i just figured that there really aren't that many tight ends that put up big numbers, so a fourth wr would be a better choice than the bo scaife and desmond clarks of the world.

under this lineup you could also have 3 rbs and 3 wrs. figured it would give people the freedom to draft the best players instead of being in a "gee that guy is a great value this late but i need a te before they're all gone"

but i can change it to the usual 2 rb/ 3wr/1 te set up if that's what you guys prefer.
