Note to those interested - the darker the paint, the more it weighs. American Airlines used to just run a clear polish/wax over the bare aluminum to save weight & increase fuel savings (the heavier the paint, the heavier the plane, the more fuel is consumed compared to other aircraft, etc.). Depending on the size of the aircraft and the amount of paint used, that could be an additional 400 lbs or more. Over time, that adds up.
