Those who do not ride think danger is the problem

Yea, I don't ride a motorcycle because there's a danger component. "Let's take the bike -- it's less safe." "YEA!"

Nah. Not my thing.

One of the many draws of riding for me is the feeling of dealing with power, weight and speed while balanced on two wheels.

Danger is an aspect but overcoming that danger is thrilling.
Sorta like a moth to a flame.

From the vid:
"People who do not ride think the danger is the problem.

They are wrong about that. The danger is part of the point.
Not in a reckless way. Not in a death wish way. In an honest way.

A motorcycle does not pretend to be safe.
It puts you out in the open and tells you the truth.
This is real. Pay attention.

The thrill and the danger are not two separate things.
They are the same thing.
The reason it feels so alive is because it actually matters.
Mistakes have consequences out here.

Most of modern life is built to remove risk.
To smooth everything over.
A motorcycle gives it back to you.
The danger. The focus. The feeling of being completely awake.
It is not safe. That was never the point.

The point is that it is real."

I don’t think the danger is any reason to ride. I think the reasons are all the other things, like the freedom we feel while riding. The dancing on two wheels along roads in woods filled with trees. The feeling of the wind on our bodies. The mastery of the skills to ride. Of having a powerful engine between our legs. And using that power. Of simply being on two wheels. Of all the other joys of riding a motorcycle. Of knowing you are part of an elite few.

The danger we face every day is only the price we pay to ride. It’s the one thing that keeps us sharp and focused. Danger just helps in keeping us alive. If I could ride and get all that I’ve mentioned without the danger, I’d do it. But I can’t. It’s simply the price we pay to get all the other things that riding a motorcycle provides us.

If danger is why we ride, we would ride without helmets. Without proper gear. We would ride with no regard to speed laws. We would ride recklessly. All these things adding to the danger. But, for the most part, we don’t. We do these things simply because they give us another day of riding.

Danger is not why we ride. It’s simply something that is inherent to the sport.
