Thoughts on AWD cars?

was that in the showroom or after you left the lot..? :twofinger

It was truthfully in the field, not trying to get outta your mom's vajay-jay!:laughing

Srsly- Nissan Pathfinder in 4 low during a snow storm w/ icy roads. I was climbing uphill at 10-15 mph and I got "sucked" in to the snow bank. Was in the process of trying to dig myself out when a neighbor with a F350 pulled me out with a tow strap.

Fix what? We won't open those differentials up at the dealer. Blow up one of those rear ends and you're out $2-3k for a complete assembly.

As for the new electric one....I have no clue what that'd cost. But I'd venture a guess around high four figures.

exactly my point.

they kinda suck for 'round town driving, and at your/our price point 50mph is the max sustained freeway speed for various reasons. HVAC sucks to the point of non existence too, ecxcept the hotspot from the doghouse on the exhaust side... so yeah your right calf will be toasty, but your knee will still be freezing.

This Ice talk is a riot :rofl

All that is getting said is the driver isn't equipped, and doesn't know how to do it.
And...Never lived where they had to do it.

What is your experience with ice, California boy? :rofl

Doesn't matter how many wheels you drive, if none of them have any traction. AWD is great for snow, but doesn't do shit on pure black ice.

Probably more than you, flatlander. You didn't say "pure black ice", you just said ice. I call bullshit. Since you know... I've been there, done that.

So where have you lived? I spent 33 years in Michigan and Colorado, 13 of them as a driver. How about you? And what did you THINK I meant when I said ice? If I meant to say something else like "packed snow", I would have said so.

You don't even know about different types of ice. :laughing How sweet. :laughing

Really....Portland Oregon is a Black ice capital..Thanks to the Columbia River Gorge, being the route of the bitter cold air flowing down from the high desert.

Black Ice Kicks ass for the visiting long haul truckers from where ever they came from...And don't know they are on ice till they step out of the truck, and fall on their ass. (I mean that is one way they find out, Jack-knifed and sliding rig is another).

The ice storms in Portland, build ice on trees till the weight breaks the limbs, and the crashing/falling limbs break the power lines...Fun Times :shocker .

Ya think they would learn to trim their trees in nice weather and in their terms, but no...

I'm surprised you had ice in Michigan. Minnesota doesn't fuck around; Fall typically lasted for a single week, and then we went straight from decent weather to frozen tundra. Ice never happened - it was almost always too quick of a transition straight into snow.

Snow driving on the other hand... Some of the best years of my life ;) Absolute riot, if approached with the right attitude.
