Tire ski jump

great laugh thanks for this! :laughing

That was awesome! Now, the question is why did the pickup truck tire go the farthest? I noticed that one of the tires (I forget which one) flexed quite a bit going up the ramp. I suspect that this flexing dissipated a lot of energy. I also suspect that the huge tire at the end would have won if the ramp didn't break.

I figured the big one would destroy the ramp. Reminded me of when I taught my fat friend to drop in and he broke the half pipe. And his leg.

Maybe that's why they told me that I was too fat for the louge track... hmm..

Largest diameter (tractor aside), probably stiffest vertical flex means that all of the energy was transferred up/forward off the ramp and not absorbed. I'm no physicist, but this is my guess.

heavier objects of roughly the same size almost always fly farther in these cases. tons more momentum at the bottom of the ramp + not much more air resistance = longer distance.

So a short, fat dude would absolutely own at ski jump?

My pea brain tells me that the heavier truck tire won out because it was narrower than the touring and sport tires. Less friction with the ramp means less impedance with gravity.

Gravity doesn’t discriminate between fat or slim, rich or poor, black or white, old or young, gay or straight…
