Toprak heading to MotoGP in '26

Agree with Tally Whacker and Budman. Toprak is killer in WSB and fun to watch. WSB is where faded MotoGP champs go to finish out their careers, it's where MotoGP stars start. He's going to discover that there are 20 riders in MotoGP as talented as he is. More power to him, but he's not going to become a champion there. I'd ten times rather see Jackass in MotoGP, he's capable of amazing stunts still.

Troy Bayliss did as well and Colin Edwards too.
I like Topshelf Raspberry YooHoo as much as anyone but let's look at the track record of former WSBK riders in Moto GP and visa versa.

No rider from outside the Moto GP series itself has won the title there in the last thirty two years aside from Nicky Hayden. Spies had a chance, Bayliss threatened but Colin, Hopkins, Haga, Toseland, Corser and Fogarty all washed out of the series unremarkably.

In contrast, Moto GP riders going into SBK have taken titles on a few occasions. Biaggi, Checa, Bautista, Corser (when he returned to SBK from GP), even Guintoli also took WSBK titles coming in from GP.

The best thing (to me) about Hayden's Moto GP title is that he went into the final race down nine points or so and won by three when, on a rare occasion, Vale choked. "To finish first, one must first finish".

I believe he'll struggle to find the top five, even if Yamaha pulls off a miracle on the bike development next season.

All true MJ.

StoppieRak may be a rare earth metal in terms of talent, but getting on with a MotoGP bike will be a challenge. IF he can get on with the bike and IF Yamaha makes good on their success with the V4 then I would expect him to challenge for a podium or two after a year of shaking shit out.

Yamaha's new V4 sounds like Honda's production MotoGp V4 the $180,000 RC213VS... it makes sense to reverse engineer a proven V4 design than begin from scratch...

Pretty dramatic pic Larry. Paying homage to Nicky.

I still have his funeral card that I got from Roger Lee on my desk.

THE BEST high speed stoppie I have ever seen for sure.

Every other wsbk to gp rider was all about their smooth riding like JLo. Toprak rides bikes like Stoner and Marquez. I am excited to see him abuse a GP bike even if it’s not exceptional results
