Trackday van setup...

Those are all sweet the sprinter is my favorite in australia and europe I have seen they put beds above the bikes... two to three can sleep tight and the bikes are under the bed... cool stuff...

Whoah! I need to figure out how to do that! I always wanted to sleep under the same roof with my bikes. :teeth

So, do they, like, have to re-enforce the roof or something to hang beds with humans from it, or are those bed on some sort of frames that sit on a floor of a van?

seems like MotoLiam had a pic posted in the MotoLiam thread that showed a bed above the load floor in what looks like a Sprinter van or very similar tall Euro van...

Yeah not sure on reinforcing the roof... I will have to have a few aussie mates send some pics to show the back set up.. clean... a sprinter is my next buy vehicle wise I think...
Wrap it with a naked pic of me it will be great!!
:)

I love my sprinter, but like all diesels 2006 and older, it is designed for high sulphur diesel so I have to add an additive with every tank.

I keep the pedal down and get over 18mpg.

I have the tall, long wheelbase cargo version and sleep on a twin mattress on the floor (with the bike unloaded).

I am looking forward to getting a 2008 or newer version all tricked out to my specs.

I found a guy on ebay selling bench seats BTW for $150 delivered (new with mounting hardware) that should fit any van for transporting people.

With the new version I would like to get the extra long, extra tall version, but they seem to be either extra long or extra tall. I may have to go with the extra tall and put the bed above like they do in a lot of the RV's and trailers (where it comes down on hydraulics. It would be great to have a queen mattress in there. (might even fit a cal king).

Sveta, I didn't realize you had a sprinter, I will have to check it out next time I see you as it looks like the passenger version is pretty cozy. I need to buy the insulation kit and sunshades before the summer overnight days.

Whoah, Eric, you've got the California King-sized Sprinter!
Cool. Yeah, mine is a passneger version, I took out all three rows of seats and they are piled up in my garage now.

I am not aware of any additives requirement - it runs as is on the Diesel#2 and so far (knock on wood...not the engine) it has not complained.

I kinda like it having windows everywhere - I get claustrophobic easily otherwise. :loco The windows have a heavy dark tint on them - little sun, plenty of privacy.

My only compain is that there are no mounting points. I am reluctiant to drill the floow and walls, so I am just using the seat rails in the floors to fasten the bikes. Took me a while to find a good angle.

Are you at Thill or Sears this weekend by any chance?

I'll be at sears on monday, and I can show you the stucture behind the walls.

Those are nice sprinters. I like the Kawi one.

I convert mine from work to track and back all the time, so I need to figure out some efficient way to do that.

ooh, I want to show-and-tell! :teeth

Actually, mine's not ready ready yet...
but here it is, pre-build, in all it's glory!

It's a BOOKMOBILE!!!:twofinger
standard.jpg

:wtf:wtf:wtf

The crazy thing is that I got it for free, and it's cost about $470.00 to get it towed and running. It's job will be to haul my SCCA solo2 car, but look forward to seeing it later in the year at a few bike track days.

btw, it's a 1971 Gerstenslager. Sounds german enough, but it's from Wooster, Ohio!:rofl

23 ft. to the back wall baby!

(I'll be making it longer)

here's my trackday van... averaging 25mpg!!!... Sprinters are uglier than sin :nerd but make for a great toyhauler :thumbup

That's a pretty cool van, if you need to get rid of any of that shelving, I'd like to check it out for my sprinter. Always trying to figure out something flexible where I can still fit my bike and/or mattress between.

I can't imagine what the fuel mileage is like.
