Triumph reliability

I've had Euro bikes in the past, and I, too, have been tempted by the Street Triple R.

I still have my V. Nothing goes wrong with it, and it does everything I need it to. Oh, and it's paid off. It's a trio that's hard to beat.

The Street Triple is an awesome bike!

Trio Threat....I'm liking that. :p

I am soooo glad the rectum-fires go out on them thangs.
DT & Hypergirl were down here ride'in 'round when DT's rectum-fire went out. He had ta haul his bike to the southbay, and he made me take his wife fer a ride.
We went up Trinity, 'long Lakes Hennessy, Berryessa, did Butts canyon, HWY 29, 128, and Skaggs, then ripped down to Glen Ellen before night fall.
That Hypergirl is one charming riding companion. :thumbup
Sorry 'bout yer rectum DT :rofl

You may want to look at the parts listing for triumph before you decide to say things

Sorry but no.

Just went and looked at oem parts for the triumph street triple and compared it to the same years of a bunch of Japanese bikes on bike bandit and almost every part was more expensive on the triumphs, brakes, clutch, chain, etc. I'm not saying they are harder to work on or they aren't good bikes, but parts are more. maybe aftermarket stuff you can find at comparable cost. However, a triumph OEM chain is 220 bucks, to where most Japanese bikes' chains were 120 to 130 bucks. Just sayin.

Triumph daytona 675 chain: 212.43
(Triumph OEM chain is endless by the way)

Yamaha r6 factory chain: 181.92

And the 120-130$ chains are the ones that every dealer holds for every bike because they are not special to a particular bike :rolleyes

ok I'll give you that, but you still just listed parts that are 30 bucks different. I know that's not huge, but my point was just that parts will cost more. Thats all I was trying to say, I personally love the triumphs I've been on.

I bought a used '10 street triple R with 8k on it and have had it for about 500 miles now, haven't had a problem. Previous owner also didn't have any problem. You should get one.

SHIT. WILL. EXPLODEZ.

People have to give euro bikes and cars some respect... Just found out that my buddies 1993 VW Golf 3 speed had been running on NO oil for longer than we can both remember. (which is about 5-6 months) The drain plug had came out... and the oil sensor cracked.

You'll be fine...

Eh it will break a lot, and parts take forever to get. It's a British ducati. :laughing

No please don't get the street triple.

'09 Daytona here. Been crashed twice (a particularly nasty one at the track) and it is still bullet proof.

I am hooked on Triumph now, and my next bike will more than likely be one.

Yeah, it's not really the cost of parts i'm most concerned about - I'd be going in with the knowledge/acceptance that these bikes carry a higher cost of ownership in general.

I like hearing more problem-free experiences than not. And even if it needs unexpected service, fine... shit happens and stuff. I just want to know it'll be taken care of within days - not months.

Some Triumph salesman was telling me candidly that both parts and bike allocations in general have been scaled way back - even though sales has been strong. Go figure.

No please don't get the street triple.

I have had my triumph for a year now and I have to say the dealer service hasn't been much different then the Kawasaki I owned previously. I have had a few small things happen to the 675, none of which were an indication of reliability issue. Every time I would take the bike to the dealer, most of the time they would give it back to me the next day all fixed. Some times it would take 2-3 days because they would need to order parts and that's understandable. I can't remember the shop ever needing the bike more then a week.

Also, every time the bike goes in for service, they ask me if I want a loaner bike to use while mine is getting fixed. Can't beat that. The Kawasaki dealership didn't give out loaner bikes.

Name the dealer ... with a loaner being given out, I am thinking California BMW/Triumph in Mt. View?

A loaner policy would rock... my local 'ship doesn't do that.
