Triumples Triple Failure...

It was before I changed the gearing, but not before other modifications and high octane fuel. Was it accurate? How the fuck would I know, but that is what it indicated.

EDIT: And I weighed 130lbs at the time and am short.

Lol nice try, again I'm still roflmao over post #3 and your response

Hadn't seen that one. Yeah another hint of trolling: BA in engineering? Never heard of such a thing.

Yeah, speedometers have error, and at least at the normal riding speeds I've checked it, it seemed to be dominated by a fixed %, but that error isn't gonna show you 177MPH when you're traveling ~130MPH.

Accounting for it with sprockets seems to be a reference to Aprilia guy, and another great BARF trolling thread.

Of course if you went small in front and big in back you could have the speedometer showing 177MPH when you were doing 130MPH. But you'd probably be well aware the speedometer was way off in normal riding.

Only took fifteen years for someone to notice.
I've only been here 12 years, so I missed it the 1st time around. There had to be lots of engineers on BARF then though.

You definitely left your mark on BARF culture.

OMG, I step out for a few months and this zombie thread gets resurrected lol.

"Triumples Triple Failure..."

How I get the letter 'l' mixed up w/ the letter 'h' I do not know. I also don't know why I added an 'e'... I'll blame it on my sisters laptop since I'm not on my own rig... lol :-/

It can be corrected, by the way. Just edit in advanced mode.

Never mind....didn't see the age of the thread until I posted.

It makes me happy in the pants everytime this thread gets resurrected.

Jason-

The Perkins is a fine beast. Now the electrical is English and another story. Strange that a boat mfg. named Freedom would build in UK, right?

Lucas and Smith electric parts and gauges in all the cars of my friends were a royal pain in the arse.

The last place I worked as a service manager had a lot of customers with Perkins engines. Generally, they were okay and held up over time assuming the owner maintained them properly. But yeah, those electronics... :laughing

Hyster forklift built some with Perkins, I drove one for Fleetwood Mobile homes in VV back in the 70's.
Mine was a 4 cylinder that would lose its' prime after three days of sitting. Had to bleed the fuel system of air to make it run, simple to do, one wrench.
