TV Shows I am enjoying …and Movies

After saying I'd never watch another Superman after "Man of Steel" with Henry Cavill (Cause it was my fav Superman), I watched James Gunn's 2025 "Superman" and was heavily surprised....at how good it really was. I loved the changes to the typical Superman story which is always the same. The movie has worked it's way into my top 5 comic movies, which is no small feat. Great movie, IMO. I also watched The new Fantastic Four with Pedro Pascal...something I hadn't watched cause the FF is a pretty boring comic IMO, owning several issues from the 60's forward. Imagine my surprise when the newest FF film takes place during the 60's and was fantastic as well. Highly recommended!

We live in a great era of comic movies, especially moving forward. I'm excited for Gunn's leadership on all DC movies going forward too. Hoping Marvel will keep at it!

The new Superman wasn’t as bad as people made it out to be. I’m glad that we didn’t have to go through the whole origin of growing up in Smallville and showing up wet behind the ears in Metropolis origin story again. We all know what he is at this point. No need to waste an hour on it. That said, to me Snyder’s (not the stepped on Whedon edit) Superman is better than Gunn’s Superman. And Snyder’s Batman is a million times better than the new situation they’ve got going on.

But thing’s are still looking up for DC I’d say. Mostly because quite a few of the latest Marvel releases are pretty meh. The fact that they have to pay RDJ so much money I think he pretty much has the deed to Disneyland now, because he’s their only guaranteed draw to get asses in seats. And slap the Doom armor on him then somehow make the audience believe that the guy they know and die as Iron Man is now Doom? Yeah. I know a tentpole collapsing when I see one.

After finishing the Farscape series. . .
My wife has been watching Little House on the Prairie lately, therefore I have been watching Little House on the Prairie lately.

Quite a remarkable show for its age; I have found myself not changing the channel when she's not home.

Me and the wife really loved Farscape probably should go back and hit a couple of the oldies we used to watch.

Watched the Wrecking Crew last night on Prime.

Solid violence. :laughing

Jason reminds me of my oldest son so it is always kind of fun to watch his stuff.

Hadn't watched "The Fifth Element" in forever so borrowed the 45 bluray from my daughter and watched in 5.1.4.

4k DVD is sooooooooooo much better than streaming in terms of clarity from the picture and punch from the soundtrack.

Shit was coming at me and away from me from above which, of course, is the whole schtick with Atmos.

Bruce Willis, sadly now riddled with Alzheimer's, was very good of course.

F1 Movie

Likes:

  1. Aerial photography of racing
  2. The wind tunnel and APX GP’s offices and equipment. I wonder if it was embellished.
  3. Pit scenes.
  4. Starting grid scenes.
  5. Burnouts
  6. That they didn't cast a total babe as tech director.
  7. Racetrack simulations.
  8. How Brad trained by running versus Joshua’s high tech training.
  9. Brad and the two tennis balls because I do the same with one ball.
  10. Learning about F1 rules.
Dislikes:

  1. Preposterous finish to the last race though it reminded me that Mansell had a chance to win in his first Indy 500. Matter of fact, like Secretariat in the Belmont, his lap times got faster as the race went on.
  2. Brad really didn’t act. He showed up and read lines. Javier’s worst role and performance.
  3. Purpose of brief Lewis cameos.
  4. You knew he was going to smash the tech director.
  5. APX GP cars had boring livery.
  6. Race announcer was lame.
  7. Never really heard motors and exhaust. Petrolicious films ARE WAY BETTER.
  8. The chanting of “combat” made me dumberer.
  9. Cliché surfboard on the side of Brad’s van. Should have had a surfing scene.
  10. I have 872 more dislikes including Brad’s cute fashion attire and his cliché divorce, gambling problem and bankruptcy.
  11. He never had helmet hair :rolleyes
Grand Prix and Le Mans are superior race films.

Watched the movie "Frankenstein" from last year and while a bit long, was well done.

Great cinematography and acting.

I watched it over three days.
