Two motorcyclists hit each other head on! (10/11/09)

This one's being discussed in another thread. Bad deal for all concerned. Both are supposedly alive, but not in good shape.

I was driving and followed the guy on the white duc up Skyline from 92. He was rippin it, trying to drag knee in what looked like jeans and a textile jacket, leaning way off but not actually going very fast. Looked a little iffy in the corners, especially as we hit some damp spots. I was holding steady on speed the whole way and he'd pull away quick in the straights, then I'd catch sight of him again in mid turn.

We both turned onto 84 west at Alice's where he cut off a red BMW 335i (failed to look left at the merge). I ass-clenched for the both of them as the bimmer brakes for the rider. Saw the rider again stopped in a little pull out maybe a mile down. A little further down, I stopped for the construction lights where it turns into a controlled single lane, at which point I see the Duc rider arrive, pulling to the front of the queue. Lights turn green, and less than a minute down the road, traffic starts backing up and I come upon the scene.

A few people were already in the process of helping the downed standard/cruiser rider laying on his back in the westbound lane, and others just starting to control traffic. Saw that people were helping to stabalize the head, check his condition, and made no move to remove the helmet. Calls were already made to emergency services, and I didn't feel I could add anything at that point. Got back in the car, turned around the way I came and headed home. Had no idea that the Duc was involved at that time.

Hope the parties involved heals up fast, and if the Duc was the cause of the accident, I hope he took the lesson to heart. Be careful out there people!

Thanks for this insight. That's really retarded that this guy spent 16gs on a bike and wasn't even going to spend the extra on the proper gear, or training.

So Sad to hear. I was leaving LDD and going back to Alices when everybody got turned around. I knew it was something bad. Today was not a day to be going fast. Good Luck to the riders and a speedy recovery.

Few things suck more than someone else's fucktardation becoming your dirt nap or ER visit.

Dude- this wasn't very far at all from your famous caption picture...:wow

Hope the riders have a speedy recovery and minimal injuries.

Poor Norton :(

Not funny. The Norton rider was not at fault and he could die. He is also someone I ride with. Have a little respect.
No disrespect meant, I was trying to be clearly ironic--you certainly wouldn't expect a Norton rider to be playing the part of GP-wannabe.

Prayers for both riders...
then a swift kick in the keester for the Duc rider after he's recovered.
Wife and I were at LDD but decided to take the PCH route to/fro since we were running late.

This is exactly why I tend to avoid 9, 84 , & 35 on weekends. Weekdays during non commute hours you pretty much have the roads to yourself. Hope both the riders recover fully.

Damn that's sketchy. My boyfriend and I rode up to alices today too and we left right around the time that happened. The roads were wet in spots though so I hope everyone is okay in the end.

I went for a spirited ride when I couldn't bare to watch the Niners anymore.

I got over a dozen helmet taps going up the front side of 9. I saw 3 cops posting out, so I decided to cut my ride short.

Sorry to hear your friend is in such serious condition. Let him know that his bike was beautiful... but it is more important that he get better. The bike can be replaced and he can't.

Prayers for his quick and full recovery.
