Not once, but 4 times!

Recommendation: If you're going to break the law, don't film yourself doing it.

BBC Report complete with short video here (not YouTube, so cannot embed). Video doesn't really show much IMO, but anyways:

48 year-old rider, avoided jail, banned for 5 years. Wonder how he'd have faired if he'd done it in this country ?

There have been instances of two sportbike riders here in Oregon who were convicted on the basis of helmet cam videos showing their speedometers. One of them hit 160 mph on I-5.

Just doesn't seem like a good idea to film yourself committing a major traffic infraction.

What's quantum field theory got to do with it? We're only talking about 150 mph!

Since a lot of new bikes use pickups off the counter shaft sprocket it would be possible to get a bike, put on a tiny countershaft sprocket and a HUGE rear sprocket and get 150mph on the speedo while still going 65.
Or do it on a green screen. Bike on stand, wheel in the air and strapped down. Then have a bicycle ride by while the speedometer was indicating 150mph.

how did they have enough evidence to prove it was really him? was he dumb enough to have all of his real name and stuff on the profile info when he posted it? lol...

The real question is how to post videos anonymously.

you don't say "this is me doing 150mph". there, its anonymous.

there are probably different laws in the UK where the burden of proof is not on law enforcement. the idiots in oregon probably just opened their mouths and admitted to it. a video of a gauge cluster isn't conclusive of anything.

No way could this happen on teh barf.:teeth

This is about being stupid...not about doing 150 MPH.
These two issues, should be kept separate.

camera is his property, should be inadmissible under the 5th amendment in the US. Not saying it is, but it should be.

Maybe we didn't see the bad parts...but change out the bike and that is me navigating South of Market every day.

I used to run a gopro on my street rides until one of the leos that I sometimes ride with advised me against it. He said if we got pulled over its one of the first things they look for. I think he was worrying about loseing his job more than worrying about me losing my camera.:rofl

Mr. Owens has a number of good tracks to choose from to get his jollies over the next 5 years. Hopefully the time out on public roads will give him time to understand the difference between the two environments.

Go Kawi riders! :)

I can't see the speedo well, nor the speedo indication on this video. I wonder how did all this get proven or how did it evolve?

btw, it's "fared" ^^^

Don't know, but seems you could derive his speed from the frame rate of the camera and the observed distance he covers between frames.
seems a little too CSI just to bust somebody for speeding.:rofl I dont think there gonna spend more of their budget then what their gonna get back on a conviction.

Seems to be happening more often that your own videos are used against you. I remember a Japanese guy selling videos of him doing outrageous speeds in his F40. The cops bought one and used it to bust him.

I call BS
No way is this guy doing 150.
He's on a 600 and hitting 150 in these short bursts and in traffic
I say 80 -90 max.
