What track config and what were the laptimes like?
Ernie may have been faster if he didn't keep spinning out in T3 for some reason.
That was a great time! I need to do some sort of endurance race because I never get back into the groove until the end.
I'm in for sure the next time. Ernie, I'll give you a good tip I learned recently from the outdoor karting.
Dan, what I never knew before doing outside Karts (and just the indoor stuff at Umigo) is that Karts have a solid rear axle. For the kart to turn and not slide, a driver has to get the inside tire to come off the ground so the kart can turn around the outside tire. A solid rear axle creates a problem as the outside tire turns the same speed as the inside tire...but has to travel a greater distance. Due to this, the kart technique is a hard, quick turn in to get the lift and pivot. Too high/ hard of a turn in will have the kart setting the tire back down too early and too low won't get the job done.
I've learned how to brake real hard, real late and then come off the brakes before the turn in...which is real difficult to adhere to with front brakes on my kart. One thing cool...when you get it correct, the kart almost starts to turn itself into the corner and it works oh so well. As soon as you apply throttle, the kart will set that tire down and begin to track out, straight. Just like in moto racing, patience is everything. Wating that hair second for the kart to complete its corner is huge...and that's where I get most of these guys in speed. That and in entry speed, which surprises even me.
