Victory Motorcycles

might as well have asked how is the steak at a vegetarians convention

I've put a bunch of miles on a Vision - really outstanding - light, powerful, very maneuverable; seemed really smooth and didn't vibrate my junk. Even when compared to the miles I put on the Concourse; I'd probably buy a Vision especially if my wife was a willing passenger.

Polaris makes some great stuff in the US. Their bikes have one of the highest owner satisfaction rates in the industry - like 94% or something.

Resale seems to be low compared to HD, but still higher than the metric stuff - but mainly on their 'entry level' bikes - the little brothers to chaos inspired models - posing at *$ in a wife beater with $500 boots.

I met Arlen Ness at the Dublin dealer. Cool guy, had some awesome stories, the Vision is pretty cool for appearing to be gigantic. He insisted that I throw a leg over his personal Vison that had some "short guy" mods done to it. Still very excited about bikes, if I were in the position I would have no problem buying one.

The Cross Roads is pretty cool.

The guys at the Triumph/Victory shop in Sac let me take out a new 8 Ball back in '07 while they were getting my new Speed Triple ready to roll. It was a lot of fun to ride - very torquey, felt solid and seemed well built. If I were a cruiser guy, I'd certainly get a Victory over a Harley. The Vision is interesting too, but also not really my cup of tea.

the engine reliability and build quality are on par with current HD's... The price you're paying is similar to HD but the resale value is lower.

The dealer network is nowhere near as vast as it is with HD... not that I use the dealership for work but it's nice to know if something grenades there is an HD somewhere nearby for parts or service...

Victory's are nice... i've ridden them and I like them....

Vision was top of my list for two-up tourer last year, and I am decidedly NOT a cruiser/GoldWing type of rider. Only reason it lost out is the killer deal I got on the RT, and for character reflection, I still regret not buying the Victory.

You might be very surprised by the cornering clearance. Several Victory touring models provide more lean angle than GL1800.

As soon as cruisers fall out of favor, I'm getting one. Victory 8-ball is a cool looking bike. Kawasaki had a nice metric about 2 years ago, all blacked out with red stripes.....can't remember what it was.....but I liked it. Polaris makes good shit, I use to ride their snowmobiles.

I like um, if I was in the market for a cruiser or tourer I would consider one. As for now I'll just keep my Kawk.:ride

All the new Victorys (2011 and newer) have the 106CI engines, 6 speed trannies. Dollar for dollar, they blow HD out of the water, are reliable as fuck. My uncle has a 2004, put maby 7-8 grand into it, its simply amazing. Im looking to get one to round out my stable.

:cool

EDIT-

the cruiser market will never go away. its like saying noone cept construction workers need trucks. I know a billion people who have trucks and never use em for hauling shit ever.

The Vision carry's its weight low. As huge as it looks, it doesn't weigh very much. Very light, but ugly. :p

Speaking of Ness. The last time I was in there I saw at least four customers buying those over price custom choppers, signing up for 84 month financing. :wtf

You'd have to be stoned to buy a $36,000 bike, paying $500/mo for seven years. Do chopper guys drink *$?

Well I went up there and met Arlen. Really nice guy. We BS'd and I took pictures. Long ass trek for me. I think if I had one of these I'd need a trailer to drop it off as their service dept is only open during the week.

I test road an 8 ball. nice engine, nice build quality. I think I'm a little short for the reach to the forward controls. I don't get whats up w/ these skinny ass tires on the front of cruisers. I didn't get much feedback from the front which made me not thrilled. I was told to wait for the high ball which was a 16" 130mm front. So I'll take a look at those when they come out. I wish there was a dealer more convenient to the south bay. That hurts them in my eyes. I like to take my bikes to the dealer while they are still under warranty afterwords I do my own maint.

Just googled the High Ball. Nothing against the company or the bikes, but apehangers and whitewalls make what could be a reasonable street bike look like a fuckin joke. Maybe it's just me, but I can't imagine feeling like anything but an asshole riding down the street on that. Change the bars and black out the whitewalls and I'm ok.

So you're saying this cruiser thing isn't just a fad?
