RIP to one of the great video game creators...

Vince Zampella, who co-created the widely-popular video game series Call of Duty, has died in a car crash in California, aged 55.
Zampella's death was confirmed by Electronic Arts, which owns Respawn Entertainment, a game studio he co-founded.
The influential video game developer was travelling in a Ferrari with another person, when it crashed and caught fire on a highway in Los Angeles on Sunday.
"This is an unimaginable loss, and our hearts are with Vince's family, his loved ones, and all those touched by his work," a spokesperson for Electronic Arts told the BBC.

Officials said the person on the vehicle's passenger seat was ejected while the driver remained trapped. It is unclear if Zampella was driving the car and who the other person inside was.
Both people inside the vehicle died.
"For unknown reasons, the vehicle veered off the roadway, struck a concrete barrier, and became fully engulfed," the California Highway Patrol said in a statement to the BBC.

The corner is pretty treacherous with the road turning left as you exit the straightway in the tunnel(s) with limited visibility, depending on time of day. There's a video of a 2023 crash that's very similar, including the vehicle (not exactly same Ferrari).

I saw the video. Looked like classic oversteer into the cliff face. This scenario happens to many with more money than driving skills, especially in high performance sports cars. RIP

I saw one video, but word from multiple posters was it was a video from 2023. I think they were wrong. Horrible crash...coming out of the tunnel the corner turns left pretty aggressively. You can hear a few chirps from what sounds like, tires, and watch the inside floor raise up and the car stop steering. He got himself into trouble and didn't know what to do from there. Never went to the brakes the whole time that I can see. Front end remains high.

I saw the video, it ends with two bystanders pulling a body away from the wreckage that was still strapped into the seat but had been ejected from the chassis. Gruesome. I thought I heard the tires screaming and assumed he was on the brakes while turning causing understeer, but I'm not interested in watching it again.

:rip to one of the great video game developers of our time. The guy behind Infinity Ward and the OG Call of Duty, most recently Battlefield 6.

That vid is widely reported as AI. I've seen it, and while I'm not an expert, it looks fake to me too.

I would wonder why if AI they left Spanish language in it vs. English. Could be I suppose.
