VW "Clean" Diesel not really clean

this is really interesting... there is absolutely no benefit for paying-off 2 years early??? o_O :wtf

I haven't really been keeping up with the debacle. So if you keep the car, have they laid out a plan to recall and retrofit the car to be emission compliant then? Or does VeeDub just pay a fat ass fine to the government, and the EPA just gives them a pass to let them exist as is?

No fix for gen 1 2.0l cars announced yet but they offer the option to take it and wait vs a buyback. Most believe there will be no fix for gen 1 (2014 and earlier). No fix announced for gen 2 and 3.0 either bur gen 2.0 may be fixsble.

I only owe a couple grand @1.99%. Maybe if someone has a larger note at a higher rate you could save some $$$ paying it off. But then they are likely going to take another loan for a replacement car anyway, so it's a wash.

Keep it till 2018 then dump it.

You could start a separate "new car fund" of like $100/month from now till whenever you decide to dump it and that'll give you a bit more wiggle room on something new at the end of that time period.

on the 3.0 Diesel ? That include Audi?

Yes

But it's sounding like a software fix and not a buyback

Still a ton not answeed

If they could have the same performance with a software fix, they probably would have done it before the S hit the fan.

Look for a markedly worse car after its "fixed".

On a side note - I would really love it if Dodge brought the Dakota back with the current Durango's front end looks...give it a factory lift, the turbo diesel engine, 4wd...it'd be awesome.

Haha! Dude's a moron...VW has to fight this up front so others don't do it. There's not enough money in this guys account to make his "cool story brah" come true...

He's gonna be putting all that shit back on and getting his money, or waiting a considerable amount of time.

Others HAVE been doing it... he just made the mistake of posting BEFORE he went in.

The agreement says that the car must be drivable under its power and have a clean title.

I have better ways to show my distaste for this cluster fuck buy back program.

Pinch a loaf in the airbox before you drop it off? A diesel decker, if you will.

Considerable? The court has already told VW the schedule they must conform to. It's all written out to prevent them from dragging heels, I'm sure they're getting legal clarification if they have to accept a car in this condition. Legally a car in this condition may be considered dismantled and would be eligible under a different program (spitballing on the last bit)

Curious if this could be considered an attempt to defraud?
