waterproof over gear stuff

If I had a choice I will take the cage anyday.
Certainly a valid & common perspective.

Commuter perspective is if traffic is bad enough that I commute by motorcycle, it's worse on rain days, so I'm not gonna drive then.

Cycle Gear carries Frogg Toggs that have reinforcement at inside of legs to deter motorcycle exhaust pipes from doing damage. Wish they were on outside too, as I have a tendency to get a wee bit too close to heat shields when filling the gas tank.

Get Frogg Toggs. Have ridden far and wide, as in across the US and back, coast to coast. They be cheap, they pack small and they work.

For the last 10 or so days during my trip in New Zealand, this is what my Frogg jacket looked like, after draping it over the seat and kissing the pipe. Worked surprisingly:laughing well

I have a Columbia 2-piece rain suit that I bought in the early 2000's that has held up surprisingly well....

I also have a car. :laughing

Yup

I agree. Garbage bag

I did that in high school during a particularly wet winter. Not only one as a poncho, but if I had a long distance to ride and it was really rainy, I'd put them over my pant legs and secure with tape.

My friends laughed and often referred to me as "The Man From Glad"... :laughing

Frogg Toggs. Not super durable, but if you treat it nicely, like don't drape 'em over your seat, while the exhaust pipe is still hot.

Ditto Frogg Toggs.

I used velcro straps to tighten up the sleeves so they wouldn't beat me up at freeway speeds. (flap, flap, flap, flap, flap, flap, flap, flap, flap, flap, flap, flap, flap, flap, flap, flap, flap, flap)

Weirdly, the absolute best waterproof "riding gear" was an improvisation I developed...... coupled with a good rain jacket...these!
