Waze adding Motorcycle Support

Waze navigation hasn't been reliable for me. It would do weird things like take me to an offramp then have me merge back on, or do a right turn and u-turn instead of a left.

exact same thing happened to me. it had me get off the freeway and immediately merge again, cutting off like 30 cars in the process. yeah that may save two minutes, but it was a dick move and i deleted the app after that.

That too is in settings. Drive Like A Dick? <yes> <no>

:laughing

i deleted waze because it was using my GPS location even when i wasn't using the app - was impacting my battery life (i don't care they know where i am i'm not important :) )

You can go to Settings and set Waze to use GPS when app is on/in use. That feature is on iOS.

thanks barf, you show me waze, now barf reports waze has moto addon coming

im fukn sure barf has something to do with this :thumbup

Google owns Waze, and incorporates some of its features in Maps. So maybe this will come to Maps in the near future.

Oddly enough, I was reading a new article about which one was better. They claimed they each operate independently and develop independently.
That may have changed, but I believe that's why they are still somewhat different.

After reading this thread I tried Waze for the first time today: On 3 separate trips it guided me into heavier traffic than my usual way. When I compared the route to Google Maps, Google showed me the heavy congestion on the Waze route.

I deleted Waze. I can make poor traffic decisions on my own and I don't need it to tell me how to get somewhere on a moto.

Never understood that mentality. Just because you're forced to be tracked in one manner on one device, then you must give up all semblance of privacy ad infinitum?

Use a computer at work, and I have to accept the fact that a flashlight app for my phone wants access to my contacts list and text history?

A few years ago a bloke on the telly said something to the effect of 'the internet's currency is your privacy'. You're 'paying' with your clicks, searches, purchases, locations, routes, etc. The intrusion is plain madness, and apps and add-ons and routines that track everything you do is outrageous, and worse, some advocate it's a good thing. Go figure.

If you are getting something for free, you are the product.

We all make compromises with what privacy we want to give up. I often find that folks are not aware of how much privacy they give up and then make stands on random things.

My post was intended to bring to light a few things people don't often think of that collect mass amounts of data on them.

Making choices like not allowing your flash light app to have access to your contacts, or your calculator access to your GPS/location data are ones folks should certainly be aware of. I've definitely uninstalled apps or restricted what data they can get. Certain apps won't function without the access requested, at that point it's a cost/benefit decision for the user.

Being involved in global internet security, I precluded myself from Waze, which is a compromised product. The same applies to Whatsup. Yes, I do use google, but only for mundane, garbage emails. I do not cross information-borders: apple may know some of my stuff, google might know others, but FB knows nothing.

It is all up to you how much information you wish to give up. It's a sad matter our government does nothing to protect your online entity, and instead focuses on allowing corporations to exploit it. An example would be Android's very own BT/Location stack, which is now required to be available for the OS. This "feature" terminated my interest in Android phones.

Configurable issue

That configuration doesn't work on my iPhone 6s. I have the enable location services only when using Waze choice selected, but as long as Waze is not asleep, it continues to run in the background regardless of that selection.

Whenever I use Waze, I have to put it to sleep manually to get it to stop using my location and sucking the life out of my battery when I'm done with it. Very frustrating.

So somebody is compiling data that will reveal what I buy, what porn channels I look at, where I go and how fast I drive. How does this impact me?
I know, major thread creep but why should I care?

Yeah, it's all harmless, and nice and dandy, and fun and games until your crazy ex accuses you of child endangerment and of child pornography and of molesting your own 5-yo daughter in order to get the best of the divorce. Exhibit A, the sex toys you bought. Exhibit B, the porn channels you watch show women suspiciously young. Exhibit C, you always drive away above the speed limit with your daughter in the car.

I know, I know, I've been watching too much Law & Order lately, but that's why 'I' care. YMMV, naturally.

Mathematically, with enough data, one can be incriminated for any conceivable felony. That’s why you have those “proven in the bible” bullshit claims.

It'd be cool if it had a avoid freeway section instead of avoid highway. Show me where I can and can't ride.
